Looking Ahead to 2020... 200101

Looking Ahead to 2020

Each year we will set our goal for a specific objective.  The past years have mainly focused on the expansion and consolidation of our studio resources and workflow; we would like 2020 to be a "Year of Exploration".

Working on the “Tank Commander” sprue with WSS magazine for their Great Wargaming Survey giveaway has given us the opportunity to test and fine-tuned our new breakthrough in plastic figure mould-making techniques.  This has opened up the prospect of trying something new!

This is our “Plan of Exploration”...

Early War & Late War – More early and late war vehicles are coming in 2020.

Post-War – We are exploring the possibilities of moving away from WW2 into unknown territories.

Plastic Figures – We are also exploring a new digital sculpt template for our figures which is more in line with other manufacturers in the market. They will still be of human
proportion but with better body scaling and dynamic poses.

Other Scales – This is something that we have always wanted to try out.  Doing other scales needs a different design mindset and approach.  We will look into the working mechanism with our designers to make this a possibility.

Collaborations - We will be working with other designers and companies to bring out new product ranges under our umbrella.  More on this as we move forward.

Once again, we are committed and will continue to create quality products for the gaming and modelling community... and with your support, will do so for many years to come.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

While I welcome your consideration of Post War models, my personal concern is that I transition to 1/48-50 for post 1954 modelling/gaming in "28mm".

Do you have plans to collaborate with the Perry brothers (Perry Miniatures)? Yes, their plastic figures are not perfectly anatomically correct, but sometimes trying to be too anatomically correct is not good. The Perry brothers are gamers and modelers, and as a result they mix in a good blend of anatomically correctness with some exaggerated detail and proportions. This makes their figures look good on the gaming table and/or dioramas. I'm talking abouttheir plastic figures which are usually a little slimmer than their metal figures. Also, lately it seems their metal figures are not as good because they have a lot of flash issues (all ranges). Their plastic figuress are just the opposite and have almost no mold lines. Overall, their plastic figures just seem must better than their metal figures. The plastics also have multi-pose options as well.

Rubicon,
I do not belong to Facebook, but can view the posts on the Facebook site. I don't know if this has already been answered on Facebook,as I can't.view responses, just the pictures. I have a few questions about your post on new items for 2020. You have three pages of upcoming kits. On the third page of pictures, you show two rows of boxes, listing ten upcoming kits, under the listing of 2020 production schedule. Are these kits in the 2020 production schedule in addition to the ongoing and new projects 2020 review listing, or the order of how the ongoing and new projects kits will be released?
Also, you list Soviet armored carrier, and US armored carrier, US MBT and Soviet MBT in the 2020 production schedule. Could you elaborate on what these may be?
  Thanks in advance,

Well a centurion just got announced, so I’d expect to see a T54/55, M47/M48 maybe.

Ooh! Sherman V!
Ooh! Comet!
Ooh! Valentine!
Ooh! Bedford!

Oh and Sherman II, mildly interested ^___^

Anything other than a 25 pounder for the British Field Gun is evidence of a reality excursion.

British MBT, well if it is a Centurion up to the 1950s...

Soviet MBT, depends on whether there is a spare L7 in the Centurion kit (FV4055 "Cossack").

If it is M60/T72/Chieftain not quite so interested in 1/56.

We shall see.

. I feel just the opposite of these vehicles. I'd love to see these in 1/56 and in plastic

As Rubicon moves into the post-war period, I really think it'd be worth talking to the people who run 'World of Tanks'.  They are currently in bed with Italeri, but I would have thought that Rubicon's superior precision and ease of assembly would be more attractive to modelling novices who just want a model of their favourite game tank.

More likely a quad point 50, plenty of uses. And the half tracks to carry them. And the trailer.

I assume the AA gun is a Bofors.

They specified "aa autocannon" for the British which, like you, I assume/hope is a bofors (it could be a polsten I suppose, but that seems unlikely) whereas the US entry is listed as an "aa gun".  Seems unlikely we're looking at a split duplicate release like the Jeep kits.

Personally I'm enjoying speculating about the two light tanks (ger/us) and the two armoured transports (soviet/us)  I suspect the transports will be adding to the post war collection.

Edit - There are a  bunch of interesting easter eggs in that 2020 banner as well,   poncho'd infantry, and what appear to be infantry ready-carrying m16 type weapons, possibly an FAL, not sure what the Tpose on the right is all about.  Very fun Rubicon, I often give you guys a hard time, but no one is more engaged/open with their customers, and you're still finding ways to out do yourselves on that front.

Listed under the Rubicon Models 202 Production Schedule is German Light Tank.
German Light Tank = Panzer II?
We can only hope.
