A RUBICON REVIEW & PREVIEW

Looking Back... 2018

2018 had been a year of consolidation for us at Rubicon Models. We now have a full-strength design team of 20 staff looking after all our digital design and production needs. We also acquired additional hardware (yes! more sculpting machines, scanner and printer) to support our daily work. We now have two online stores (www.rubiconmodelsusa.com & www.rubiconmodels.co.uk) looking after our US and EU customers.

What’s more, we had been working with several European manufacturers bringing their products to the US; these included Heer46, Stoessi’s Heroes and May ‘40 Miniatures. More are on their way!

Mould work on the new Panzer IV is almost done and is undergoing quality control assessment, and the Panzer III digital work had been completed awaiting mould making arrangement. We had only released 9 plastic kits this year due to our focus being shifted a little bit to set up a resin vehicle and accessory range. With this completed, the plastic kit releases will resume its normal schedule.

We have also released 6 resin or plastic conversion kits for our existing plastic kits, more will be added to build up this new range. The pewter and plastic figure & accessories range is also getting reinforcement this year... we have added another 29 items making a total of 58 for now!

Also, we will continue to update our products based on customer feedback. Your input is an invaluable asset to us at Rubicon Models. We listen!

Looking Ahead... 2019

2019 will be our 5th year in business under the Rubicon Models brand name. To celebrate, 2019 will be a year of plentiful... meaning that we will be at full throttle shipping out new products! In our current arsenal are 13 plastic projects, 9 resin conversion or complete kits, and over 20 pewter blister packs for just Q1 and Q2 coming 2019!

For Asia Pacific customers, we have plans to work on a new website to serve the region. Once completed, we will be able to cover most of our customers around the world.

During our last four years (2015 to 2018), Rubicon Models had already released 60 plastic kits (over 130 possible variants our of these 60 kits), 10 resin conversion or complete kits, 3 plastic scenery products, and 58 pewter or plastic blister packs. We are committed and will continue to create quality products for the gaming and modelling community... and with your support, will do so for many years to come!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year.
There is certainly a lot there, and a lot to look forward to.

I do need to catch up with my building.

Several of the below plastic kits will be big sellers!
I'm especially looking at you Mr. Panzer III Ausf E to Ausf N plastic kit :)

Overall, the new plastic kits listed below are all good 1:56 (28mm) additions for the gamer and/or modeller. That being said, I know for sure  there are at least six new plastic kits that will be a more than one MUST HAVE for me. In fact, I know for sure a few of these new plastic kits will be bought in numbers from members in my gaming club.

Seems like we have missed some ongoing projects from our yesterday 2019 Preview... In our current arsenal, there are 17 plastic projects, 11 resin conversion or complete kits, and over 20 pewter blister packs in the work... PLUS a special plastic kit as our 5th Anniversary release! Just wonder what could that be... ;)

Enjoy!

Happy New Year.

I have to admit to taking a while to identify the M1A1 DV as Direct Vision....

Well "DV" isn't a term you'll find in any historical source.  It just became a big issue during this kit's development.  The 2 M4A1 versions are still confused in the illustration above.

The term DV been around for quite a while in the scale modelling community ( 1970s ? ) . Weather it was a term someone made up to describe the difference in the early Sherman with the slit vision ports for driver / bow gunner and the re worked version with the vision port welded closed I don't know , but it dose help to identify early build Shermans . A lot terms we use for both Allied and Axis vehicles and tanks ( Scott , Achillies ,Famo , Hanomag , etc ) are mis conceptions by post war writers / historians and Model Compainys / modellers . What I would call a DV Sherman would have , driver vision port , M3 style wheel sets, your basic flat rubber track pads , 3 piece bolted nose , early narrow gun mantlet , no applique armor ,  probably pepper pot exhausts ( historical name or modeller's ? ) . you get the picture . The thing about the Sherman .except for the E8 road wheels / track ,and the engine compartment goodies ( A2 , A3, A4  et al ) , most other bits could have been   found on all manufatcuror's versions pretty much from the 2nd order off the assembly lines .

We are just using old drawings, don't have new ones available... but you do have keen eyes!
Happy New Year!!

Unfortunately no... the staff responsible for the work had been busy with other priority projects that are not "Rubicon" at the moment.  :(
Will resume the M4A1 project sometime late Feb.
