British 15cwt CMP Truck - Decal Sheet Final 170827
« on: September 13, 2016, 04:02:12 pm »
This is official... Rubicon Models is working on a plastic British 15cwt truck based on the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck. Made in large numbers in Canada during WW2 to British Army specifications for use in the armies of the British Commonwealth allies. Standard designs were drawn up just before the beginning of the war.

CMP trucks were also sent to the Soviet Union following the Nazi invasion. During the war, CMP trucks saw service around the world in the North African Campaign, the Allied invasion of Sicily, the Italian Campaign, the Soviet Front, the Burma Campaign, the Battle of the Philippines (1941–42), the liberation of Northwest Europe, and the Western Allied invasion of Germany. CMP trucks also saw service in post-war conflicts in Indonesia, French Indochina, and the Portuguese colonies in Africa.

Our aim is to create a basic 2 sprue plastic kit which will serve as a base for conversion and kitbashing. We have no release date for this kit as it is still under the 3D drawing phase. We will update her progress on FB as often as possible.

Enjoy!
;)

Even though still in the design phase, our initial thoughts is to give the truck a "basic" rear trunk with either some canvas support bars and/or a full canvas top.

We will only do one of the most common ones as shown on the diagram.

With the basic cab framework, conversion to other cabin types (with minor looks) can be done easily by any modellers with little efforts.

Excellent. Our resident resin wrangler might have some ideas on how best to make it easy to integrate after market cabs, bodies etc with the kit.

You might want to remove the Chevrolet logo, not only is there an IP issue with it, in the UK Chevrolet are rebranded ex-Daewoo cars.

I would say it's 95% finished... awaiting data check & drawing approval before 3D prototyping!

Enjoy!
