Jagdpanther
« on: June 30, 2016, 03:15:41 pm »
I am (slowly) putting the Panther Ausf G together (now ready for priming) and while looking at the chassis I wondered about a J sprue for the Jagdpanther?

Could you get the rest of the kit on a single sprue?

I am assuming the chassis is the same.

We do have the same idea, but there are just too many projects outstanding... probably some time next year!

Hi Guys

Could you consider also doing the Early Version Jagdpanther with the "Small Collar" with a "single piece 88mm gun barrel?"

Everyone does the late, Large Bolt On Collar and two piece 88mm... The only problem is some of the early Jagdpanther's had a
duel drivers vision block. This could be handled like you guys did with the Panther Ausf A & D Hull Ball Mount / Pistol Port!

I hope I did this right... Here is a Link to the Imperial War Museum's Early Jagdpanther!

. Some photos show the early version with one vision port blanked out and welded over  . I wonder how many were built like that until the casting for the glacis plate was changed ? Always more questions than answers when researching German Panzers  ::)

True... I didn't even realize that I posted the picture of the single Driver's vision block until you posted.

Rubicon could do like they did with the Hetzer... Provide a Small & Large Gun Collar, a single & 2 piece 88mm gun barrel,
and all 3 of the the Panther's Exhaust systems! That would cover most of the examples of the Jagdpanther. Hell, the only version Rubicon missed was the Swiss G13 Hetzer with the muzzle brake!

I already bought the Jagdpanther with the Large Gun Collar from Trenchworx, LLC, trying to fill gaps of missing vehicles. BUT I have always wanted the Jagdpanther with the small collar! AND YES! I'll buy at least 2 kits!  :o

Achtung Panzer: The Panzerjager V Jagdpanther shows the different variations of the "old Girl!"

Small collar with single & 2 piece 88mm; Single & double Driver's vision block  with a mix of gun barrels with the Small Collar. The possibilities are endless!

I still like Peter Chamberlain's  "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two." I'm on my 2d copy! An OLD but Great Reference!

IRC one unit ( in Normandy ? ) moved the tools from the sides placing them on the rear of the casement and engine deck . As well they added a stowage box to the casement rear and the gun cleaning tool tube to the rear as well . Another version to build / kitbash   ;D

A JP would be great , easily doable , with most gun / mantlet types as well as fan hoods / exhausts . Probably could  have the 2 visor version as a modeller drill out piece .  Don't know if Rubicon could make the version with the redesigned tool stowage and extra  box on casement rear  ( Schw Pz Abt 654) unless all tools were  separate pieces  . Probably too many small parts to mold ? If they can get this beast molded I'm hoping a Berge Pather would figure in the distant future ( probably after I  kit bash my own  ::) )

I would quite like a Jadpanther as well.  And a Jagdpanzer IV.
