RESIN Project - Loyd Carrier No 2 Mk II - Master Done 190411
« on: October 01, 2018, 02:48:18 pm »
When there is a good subject that we wanted to produce but not able to the met production volume of a plastic kit (yet), we will release them in resin/pewter as a temporary measure. One of these projects is this British/Commonwealth Loyd Carrier No 2 Mk II small tracked vehicle.

Enjoy!

Well it's a very welcome kit, and I'm sure your version will be much better than anything WL can do in resin.  But it's a shame it's not plastic.

Oooh shiny, want now!

I echo Pinky's comments, but understand that the volume might not be enough for plastic.

If the resin work is as crisp as the waffentrager, I will be satisfied (your mention of resin and metal gave me flashbacks of my current WWW2 project which is metal on plastic - echoes of last century GW Predator kit - shiver).

Will it be a personnel carrier or a tractor (or both)?

If the latter, does that mean a six pounder is in the works as well?

Now going to have to dig out my photographs.

If/when it comes to plastic, is this the sort of kit where multiple variants can be produced in a single kit to offset production costs?

Spend almost a month to refine the technical drawing for the Loyd Carrier... the kit will include the vehicle itself together with a driver, a tarpaulin top, and some stowage.

We are now reviewing the various components for this kit, we will make some minor changes to further simplify assembly, then we will proceed to create the master for duplication.

This is what a "true" resin kit should look like!

Enjoy!

That looks good.

Now I will be able to mechanise my infantry with indigenous hardware.

If I remember correctly Bolt Action does not have rules for it, it counts as the smaller Universal Carrier.

I will have to get the Build Your Own rules out.

Universal carrier rules should be good enough, as they only towed 2pdr and 6pdr or transported heavy mortars.

The kit looks fantastic, but this is perhaps the single hardest vehicle to research, since loads of people think everything boxy on tracks was a Universal Carrier".

Can anyone point me to any sort of source that can show these were in use by the BEF (1940) or in the western desert (1940-1942)?  Even though production began in 1939, I can find no useful information about their use prior to Normandy and 1944. Which does this "Early War Gamer" little good!

Thanks in advance.
