Very nice!  Q3?
Are you still waiting on final bits and pieces  for this?

After the M4A2?

It must be coming - they've done the box art for it.

Were the vehicle identification / serial numbers always in white? On a pale sand coloured vehicle for the Western Desert, they aren't going to stand out terribly well. Perhaps a mix of numbers in black as well as white, like the decal sheet for the Crusader? May or may not be historically accurate, but would certainly look more effective on light coloured vehicles  :)

In my defence, they posted the art after my post ^___^

Looking at the decal set, what else can it be used for (the sheet is titled British Trucks)?

More hygienic than using animal entrails to divine the future.

They were usually black on desert vehicles, or sometimes white on a black rectangle.

They were usually black on desert vehicles, or sometimes white on a black rectangle.

From photographs that we came across, they were basically white letterings on trucks even for desert vehicles.  This is definitely true for restored trucks in colour photos.

Thanks for the response.
I'm by no means an expert compared to many of your contributors here, but I'm not sure I'd take restored vehicles as too much of a reliable reference point. I've seen a lot of quite garishly painted restored vehicles in photos from AFV museums, sometimes in what seem to be quite vivid and fanciful paint schemes... They often seem to be painted in thick layers of high gloss paint too, which I'm fairly sure wasn't the case with the original vehicles  :)

Sorry to now come across like a dog with a bone, but two minutes on Google image search reveals this...

I don't know if this is in North Africa - looks rather like it might be. But it's certainly a very light coloured CMP truck with the ID numbers in black, or maybe dark grey...

I think you should consider turning a few of those white serial number decals black  ;D

My source was 'The New Breed'.  And any number of photos.  It's true that the numbers were sometimes white - when it comes to the British Army there are no 'black and white' answers.  But restored vehicles aren't a good guide.
