Very nice.

Technical question, are the grills on the front deck in front of the windows related to the engine or ventilation for the crew compartment?

It is for the engine... There is very little space in the crew compartment, the transmission basically is located right in the middle between the driver and passenger seats; and the driver had the worst driving position you could imagine!
:(

Thanks.

You can see the inverted steering wheel in the part assembled model, it must have been a nightmare to drive.

I have also just noticed the different rear doors, even better.

I'm not sure where the driver was supposed to put his left elbow!  The SdKfz 251's driver position was similar.  Ergonomics was one area where the US definitely had an advantage over the other combatants when it came to AFV design.

The SdKfz 250 kit looks fantastic.  I think it's great that it includes the option to build an entirely different vehicle.   My only (very minor) suggestion would be to see if you can get a tighter fit on the roof of the SdKfz 253, since at the moment there is a noticeable join near the rear where there shouldn't be one.

Here is the kind of jerry can rack I'd like to see included (preferably split into two rows for variety).  This is the PSC 1/72 scale SdKfz 250/9.

The jerry can rack will not be included on the standard 250 release, but will appear on the 250/3 expansion kit.

;)

Will side bins be included in any of the expansion sets? I have seen some pictures of this hull form with them fitted (250/2, 250/11).

Not sure if this can be done, but we do have the rear "split" jerry can rack for the 250/9 version.  Will need to check with studio designer on that.

Thanks for the sprue pictures.

I can see the problem with the bins.

Very cool.  I especially like the ammo boxes.  There's an argument that these vehicles represent everything that was wrong with German vehicle design (and the German armaments industry), being undersized, unnecessarily complex to build, difficult to maintain and excessively expensive.  They were luxuries that the Wehrmacht didn't really need and Germany's overtaxed production capability couldn't afford.  But they sure make nice models!

I can't tell if it's included, but there should be a second seat on the left behind the mortar.  And the mortar base was carried on the rear of the vehicle, beside the rear door.

Cool - thought you'd have it.  And the mortar base?
