Which green?

Hi everyone, I' m searching for a good acrylic green for a sherman M4A3, does anyone knows which one should I choose?
(I will use a brush)

I have no recent experience with Tamiya paints, it is twenty years since I used them. I had problems getting it to cover Humbrol spray paints, and it did not seem to like the white metals of that time.

Vallejo covers nicely even if you apply it to plastic without an undercoat.

I normally use Citadel Chaos Black spray as an undercoat. For my British tanks, including an out of place M4A3, I used PSC British Tank green (the nearest Vallejo colour is Russian Uniform).

When I get round to the Yugoslav film star, I will use Chaos Black spray followed by US Olive Drab.

IRC Tamiya paints are made to be air brushed . I've never had a smooth coat by brush painting Tamiya . Mind you I haven't bought any T paint in years , so maybe they changed for the better .

Chris - you presumably want an olive drab colour?  This would be the correct base colour for an M4A3. 

I also paint with a brush, and I've never found Tamiya paints very brush-friendly.  I would use Vallejo olive drab over a Citadel Chaos Black undercoat.  Or mix the correct shade using Citadel paints -I find Citadel paints much easier to use.  Remember olive drab wasn't actually a dark green - it was a brown olive colour.

I' ve always used Tamiya and I like them, and my city shop hasn' t  Vallejo products so I' m thinking to use Citadel...

The Sherman in your photo isn't painted the right colour.  If you're concerned about that, read this article: http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article/olive-drab/4536/

If you just want a nice dark green, then try Castelan Green with some black added.  I used it for my Soviet tanks, but it's kind of generic.  And it's a really nice colour to use - it covers well, and is easy to shade and highlight.

There's an article on Missing Lynx about how the latest batch of Tamiya OD is the wrong shade . One of the posts gives a " recipe " to mix your own . I've never had   much luck trying that  . Don't forget , your base color will change when you add a wash or two . So try it out first on a scrap kit .so your not disipointed by the final result . The color that looks right sans washes may look cr@p when dirtied up .
