I think Rubicon could do a good job of a resin / metal landing craft .  True some resin / metal kits are really bad ( old BA tanks kits ) , but that's from over use and age of the molds . Rubicon have a mold replacement / retool program in effect  on the plastic kit side of their line , and I  don't see them ignoring the resin / metal side a couple years on when its needed .  You can get a HDF / plastic kit of a LVCP  from Corsec Eng . if your in need of one right now . I added a few bits a pieces to mine, HO scale train stuff , plastic strip and   Rubicon 30 cal MGs .   If Rubicon does make one I'll turn mine into a beached wreck scenery piece

We have to reveal the Higgins LCM-3 as our new resin project.  This post is already on page 3...  This is by far the largest resin piece we have done under the Rubicon Models name.

The LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) already exists before the Second World War, under different versions. The LCM-3 is developed in two different versions: cargo and troop transport. Its tactical role is to increase the firepower of a landed force. Indeed, the LCM-3 is capable of embarking and disembarking a 30-ton tank, which can subsequently support the infantry as close as possible during an amphibious assault.

Capable of reaching the 10 knots, it can also carry, in place of a tank, 60 equipped soldiers, almost double of an LCVP.

In appearance very similar to the LCVP which Higgins Industries also constructed, with a 10-foot (3.0m) wide load area at the front and a small armoured (1/4 inch steel) wheelhouse on the aft decking over the engine room.

The LCM saw service in both the European and Pacific Theaters. More than 8,600 LCM(3)s were produced by the war's end.  BTW, 486 LCMs were used during Operation Overlord.

We might look into doing an LCVP later, it is a smaller boat... will see how it goes!  Problem with these type of projects are the parts are too large and pricy to make moulds.

It looks like my Sarissa one will not get repaired but might get a Viking funeral ^__^.

Nice looking piece of kit. Please look carefully at the ramp hinge, I am sure you will have something stronger than the MDF pegs of the Sarissa version.

I wonder if the vents, bollards, life rings etc would be common enough to be worth doing in plastic rather than metal.

That's what I meant - and the machine guns.  I realise that the vessel itself would be very expensive to do in plastic.

The LCM-3 is just too tiny a niche to invest in a plastic version and the smaller parts had no real usage for other vehicles as well, justifying them to be done in plastic.  Finer and smaller parts will be in pewter to make sure they are sturdy and more durable; at least that's the plan for now.

This is what our resin LCM(3) will look like... 3D prototype of our design.  We are currently making design changes to it so that it can be more user-friendly during the assembling process. Once done, we will proceed to do the masters and ready for duplication.

Very cool! Will leave the various MDF type options to in its wake! 

Some minor points on the labelling of parts (since, unlike tanks, this is something I know about ), what you have down as "mooring bitt" should be called a "cleat" and the "chock" is a "fairlead".

JTFM do a LCVP in resin for CA$40, so as this is bigger I’d guess something above that.
