« on: July 01, 2021, 02:00:38 pm »
New Project for the month of July 2021... Soviet ZIS-150 / ZIL-164 4x2 4t Truck.

Finally, a transport for the NVA/PAVN or any other conflicts and can be used as a civilian truck!

This ZIS-150 kit also has the option to build as a ZIL-164 as well.

Enjoy!

Good choice, you can never have too many trucks.

Good choice, you can never have too many trucks.

We had been looking for a "long life span" truck that is easily accessible by different countries (non-NATO) up until now.

The ZIS-150 / ZIL-164 seems to be a good choice as there are 774,615 being produced and some are still in use around the world today.

The ZIS-150 was built by ZIS/ZIL in Russia between 1947 and 1957, by the Romanian Steagul Rosu as the SR-101 (1954 to 1960), and by the Chinese FAW Jiefang as the CA-10 (1958-1986).

It's cool but I rather see ZIL-130 which replaced ZIL-164.  3.4 million manufactured from 1962 to 2010.  Numerous specialized versions. Much wider military use all over the Globe in numerous conflicts.
Here are the pictures of ZIL-130 on Ho Chi Minh Trail:

I also wonder if you guys planning Soviet 6x6 trucks like ZIL-157, ZIL-131, Ural-375/4320, KRAZ-255 in the future?

Likewise, I'd rather a Zil-157 or even a Zil-151. Widespread use, especially on the Ho Chi Minh Trail and could be used as the tow vehicle for an SA-2 SAM, if you ever decided to go down that path.

As with ZIS-150/ZIL-164, the model of ZIl-151 (ZIS-151) can be converted into ZIL-157.
But considering complexity and cost of mold design, ZIL-157 alone would be just fine since it was by far more popular vehicle (36 years of production) in almost every conflict all over the Globe.
Ultimately, I would prefer ZIL-131 since I drove one myself.

On contrary to 4x2, 6x6 trucks also the platforms for numerous weapon systems like BM-13, BM-21, pontoon carriers, missile transporters etc...

Rainy Monday with typhoon signal #1 hoisted but everyone is working hard at the studio.

Prototypes for the Soviet ZiS-150 and ZIL-164 trunks are done over the weekend, and here they are... still waiting for the canvas top and the driver sculpts though.

Enjoy!

It falls beyond my historical period of interest, but that's a very nice model. Well done!
