I received mine today, and it is a splendid kit, a great companion to the T-54 I purchased a couple of weeks ago. I have long been impressed with Rubicon kits, having built about 25 or so, but that is not why I am posting. I believe I am starting to have a budding love affair with rubber tires. They are great, and add so much realism to the model. My only hope is that all the forthcoming wheeled vehicles have these rubber tires. If I could have any wish, it would be that Rubicon goes back and produces the appropriate parts and tires to allow converting older models to this new standard.

Have not seen the model either, but I am curious if the model includes the stakes to secure the baseplate to the ground while in the firing position. The M102 was always "nailed down" while firing.

Also, I am wondering if the kit includes such things as ammo boxes, aiming stakes and an aiming circle for use in making a diorama.

Wish Lists / Cold War Armor

Rubicon's Face Book page recently mentioned that they were "considering" producing cold war era vehicles. I for one hope this comes about.
While WWII holds my interest, it is during the Cold War that I aculally did my soldiering. To that end I though it might be productive to see what others think about the idea, and list those models that would be the essentials in any cold war line. By that I mean the major players initially, then if the line takes off in popularity, the nice to haves could be added.

These are the ones that I think of as essentials

M48A5
M60A1 and A3
M109 Early versions
Chieftian
FV432
T62
T64
T72
BMP 1 & 2

Of course to complement the ground game, a forward pass, in the form of an AH 1 Cobra would be most welcome

I'm sorry I misunderstood you. Thanks for the paint tip.

Thanks, but I want a model consistent with my others in 1/56 scale. I think I have all I need at the present, although if someone has a good solution for Israeli Sanai Grey, I would sure like to know what it is. I don't have an airbrush so it will have to be something straight out of the can, or an acrylic good for brush painting. I am looking at Mission Models at present, but have not settled on that brand. I suppose I should say that paint request is not for this Super Sherman, that will be in a faded OD, but rather for future Israeli builds like the Centurion.

Thanks to both of you for your speedy replies.

My impression is that most of what became the M-1 Super Shermans, and yes I am focused on the 1956 War, came from France and some other European surplus. That is why I believed the M4A2 was a better starting place. I do have a set of instructions from the Tamiya M-1 SS kit in 1/35 that a friend gave me yesterday, and the A1 hull does seem to be a better place to start.

I am giving some thought to building an M-1 Super Sherman by kitbashing a Rubicon Sherman.

Just thinking that a preliminary starting place would be with the M4A2 then using an M4A3 turret. Anyone with a better starting place or some advice as how to proceed I would welcome your thoughts. I do know that there will be some scratch building involved, but just looking at photos that would seem to be minimal

Wish Lists / Recently released 2022 models

Just noticed this morning the arrival here in the USA of the Pershing, Panzer II, and others. When will the other promised models in the Vietnam series be available here as well? I am particularly interested in the M48, M113, and T54/55.

I received my Centurion Mark V on Monday, and must say that this is a spectacular kit. I am doing mine as the Australian version, and will probably do several more in the fairly near future. With so many variations available, who could resist. I do wish though that there was a marking guide available either with the kit or here on site. The decal sheet is extensive, and while I can pick out the markings for most of the nationalities, I do not have a clue as to where most of them are supposed to go, save for the Israeli version.

Great kit. Hats off to Rubicon

In keeping with the upcoming models of the Vietnam era, an M102 105mm Howitzer would be a very nice addition. Practically every fire base in Vietnam had them. Might be a good compliment to the UH1 also. Vietnam was an airmobile war, and the Huey and M102 were key players.

I think that LTC Abrams tank at Bastogne was Thunderbolt VI not IV.

Would really love to see a decal sheet that included "Cobra King" Company C, 37th Tank Battalion  C-6, First in Bastogne. Cobra King was not an Easy 8, but rather an earlier model Sherman, and historically significant

I am having a very hard time waiting in anticipation of the arrival of the two Centurions models here in the States. One of my all time favorites. I have already stained and prepared the bases they will be mounted on, as part of my Korea collection.

Is there any anticipated time frame for the release of the M48 and M113? I ask because I have a Veteran's Day show coming up in November and would dearly love to include in that show the 48 and 113 ACAV marked for the 11th  (Blackhorse) Armored Cavalry Regiment.
