Again, something small and beautiful...

Enjoy!

Cool , WW I tanks LOL Very nice . Are you planning a operating crew and maybe a transport trailer ( which to me looks like the same U shaped trailer used to haul the 20mm AA gun ) ?
-
Cute.
-
@ripley - If you mean one of these... Yes, we have one made too!

Looks good....please make some really dynamic posed figures for this
-
Excellent.
Both vehicles will also be useful for a certain Fimbulwinter scenario.
-
Very cool :)
-
Very nice choice of vehicles, I`m getting to enjoy your axis as much as U.S.A.
-
This is a very cool combination. I would have preferred a Scwimmwagen or Kubelwagen first, but this will do nicely!

Our studio is expanding and is hiring more artists. These smaller vehicles
will enable new staff to get familiar with our setup and get to know each
other well enough to become an efficient team.

Can you add parts for the cableroller sdkfz 2/1?

Can you add parts for the cableroller sdkfz 2/1?
We had been discussing this. The answer is probably not because
we need to get everything into a single sprue. We might release a
blister pack for it later. No promises!
-
Not the best of pictures because of our Studio relocation, the photo booth was dismantled...
Here are some 3D prototypes for your preview and comments!

Excellent.

What a real thing of beauty.

It looks great - yet another winner. The figures will clinch it.

Some nice looking Kettenkrad crew sculpts to start off the last week of September!

They look great. The passengers look deep in conversation ("well Hans, it is quiet tonight...", Which is almost as bad as wearing a red shirt).
-
Lööks excellent!

Haha - "Hans - did you hear something?" "No, Werner - it's just the wind."
Great looking figures. I think the passengers probably had to hang on to something, as these things seem to have lurched about quite a bit, but they look fine to me.

One of them does have his "free" hand on the back of the seat, the other one could do with moving his right arm off his leg and gripping the hand rail.
They both would be embarrassed if they lost their rifles.
-
By the way, are there fittings to hold the rifle behind the hand rail, I saw a modern photograph with rifles appearing to be held by brackets or something.

Not sure about the brackets, but we are going to do a stowage set for the Kettenkrad that will include lots of stuff...

UVS is right - there was a bracket on each of the rear handrails which held a rifle. They'd be quite fragile in this scale, however.
-
Great looking figures . Rifle clip in this scale - really, really small photo etch :o . I hope the stowage will include personal gear ( canteen , bread bag , mess kit etc ) to hang on the side of the Krad . Not much room in the back to have all that stuff attached to your belt .

It was more an optional rail with attached rifle.

Another set (more dynamic) of digital sculpts for our Kettenkard...

Very dynamic.
Not quite sure what they are trying to achieve? My only thought is they are towing something heavy or stuck and are trying to prevent the front end digging in (because it looks like a bike I keep thinking that it would wheelie if you cranked the throttle but front wheel drive vehicles dip down if they are towing or the rear brakes are on).
-
Did the troops ride these vehicles like that? It seems a bit unlikely. I prefer the earlier designs, which looked natural and more 'general purpose'.
-
If you remember how this thing took off like a scared rabbit in SPR , they better be hanging on with both hands :) . Although , I could always find a use for those sculpts away from the Krad as walking , stairclimbing troops etc

A rare 2:18am update... just back from the factory with our TS1 SdKfz 2 sprue!

Looks good.
It will be interesting to see it assembled.
-
Looks pretty good . I assume the 4 outside road wheels are separate pieces on the Krad ? Are they all the same , as the one by the front wheel looks different than the other 3 . Of course it could just be the lighting and my computer screen , but it looks weird to me , Anybody else see the differences or is it just me ? ::)
-
You're right - one of the separate outer wheels doesn't seem to have been moulded properly. You can see the faint outlines of the raised spokes.
Otherwise, it all looks great. I think it's very cool that the sprue contains more than just the basic Kettenkraftrad.
-
TS1 = Test Shot #1 = In most cases = minor miscast, mould line issues, missing part details, wrong parts, etc.
So no surprises, usually need TS report to send back to factory for sprue updates until everything pass QC before final signing of mould completion... a long repetitive process!

A process that we as customers do not normally see, but Rubicon are brave enough to show us, for which they should receive a lot of credit.
Watching (and assisting) the process is informative.

Thanks UVS! Unlike other manufacturers, we are very keen to share our design and
manufacturing process. With direct customer feedbacks, we felt this will greatly improve
the design and quality of each final product.
-
I for one appreiciate the fact that you let us see and comment on your ideas and pre production test shots . As UVS said its a brave move , being very unusual in the hobby / model business . And I like the fact that you do take some of our comments and ideas , and incorporate our thoughts in the redesign of your kits .

The fact that as a small design studio we are able to be more flexible. We had been working with OEM customers all the time, this enables us to listen to feedbacks and ideas... and we think this is what the industry needed to produce better products.
On the other hand, we have much less competition because of the scale that we make our kits... in 1/56 scale; this also make us more liberal in sharing our projects with the public.
-
It also looks as though Warlord/Italeri has stopped tailing your releases - if in fact the were doing that deliberately. We now get different releases from both companies, which is win-win as far as I can see. And Rubicon is well ahead in terms of plastic soft-skins.
Incidentally, I've just built the new Italeri M3/M3A1 Stuart. Not bad in terms of options, and it's a very complete rendition of the British M3 "Honey" (although it doesn't build an accurate M3A1), but it doesn't have Rubicon's precision, and the multi-piece tracks are a pain compared to Rubicon's M5A1 tracks. Overall, the Rubicon Stuart is much more enjoyable to build. So keep up the great work!
-
@Pinky, thanks for the compliment. We are not giving up doing tanks, just wanted to take a break away from them to address other vehicles most gamers/modellers wanted.
We are also re-thinking our ways to design tanks. That's why we are taking the initiative to remake the M4 Sherman, Panzer III & IV.
From hearsay, the M3/M3A1 is the last plastic kit that Italeri will produce for Warlord.
-
I thank you, very much for your approach to us modellers it is rare to be treated like this, and I think I say for all that we sincerely appreciate this fact . I for one enjoy the forum as much as the kits. Time is my main fear and lack of, so it`s a pleasure to read this forum, and build these kits. Both give me a sense of fun, that's been lacking in this industry and my life for a while

Had been very busy at the factory trying to get our Q4/16 new release ready... still working on it!
Not much time for studio updates, but happy to have a few snapshots of the prototypes from our
new 3D printer. There are 2 possible poses for the driver and the crew, plus some stowage stuff...

-
Dang that's nice !!!!
-
Agreed - very nice.
I think the seated figures are better.
-
On the back of the soldier, the soldier getting on to the kettenkrad on the right, it looks like there is a low spot on the tunic for a rifle to fit into. I can see the sling molded in place. After looking at the front of this figure,it looks like the sling goes under his ammo pouches behind the belt that they are attached to. You should definetly mold this so that the sling goes over all field equipment, for quick removal.
Otherwise, these figures look very good. I especially like the second semi-standing driver, which can be used for both a moving and stationary kettenkrad
-
I found a Facebook Page on the Infanteriekarren IF8 cart you might like! The Photo section shows war time photos of the Cart being dragged by Vehicles, Troops, Horses and even dogs! The most interesting version is for a Panzerschreck section (Aug 2014). Possibly some conversion ideas that I thought I would share.... https://www.facebook.com/pg/infanteriekarren/photos/

I was just reading the Osprey Fortifications book (Atlantic Wall - South wall) and they had an illustration of a Goliath as a beach defence deployed from a garage.
Additionally, it mentioned there were electric (302?) and petrol driven (303?) ones, which is this?
-
Early Goliath electric ( SdKfz 302 ) built 1942 ( too expensive) , in 1943 , petrol version built ( SdKfz 303a - 75 kilo explosive / SdKfz 303b - 100 kilo explosive . As of March 44 , 2500 electric and 3700 gas in stock for use . So the one in the garage could be either . Which would work better in sandy wet conditions ? Judging from photos , the electric ( battery ) version had a flat top and sides , the gas has what looks like small sponsons ( think WWI Brit MkI tank ) and a air scoop (?) on the top
-
Just finished the Nightmare Stacks by Charles Stross (as mentioned earlier one of these appears in it).
The various crew would make a fun option.
-
Really hope this ( and the motorbike ) get released soon . Have lots of ideas for modeling and I have no Krads to build , its driving me a little crazy :o
-
I built one of the Warlord Kettenkrads last year but it is not great.
Really looking forward to getting the Rubicon model soon.
Cheers
Tim
-
A much-needed progress update on the crew for the Kettenkrad. The delay is due to the long queue and priority issues with figure mould making... Crew TS1 plastic is finally upon us!

Nice looking kit . Great to have a mobile and static crew for Goliath . Take a look at 1st two pictures , the outside wheels on the left side are wrong , maybe someone put the inside wheels on the outside . I would never , ever do that ::) ( again :-[ )
-
These figures look good - the posing is very nice, although the half-prone figure looks as though he's sitting in a hole. Overall it looks like a great set.

I agree with Pinky, the guy on the left looks like he has been dropped from a considerable height. Have a go at getting someone to sit like that.
The rest looks great. Will there be enough heads for all helmets or all caps?

The instructions for this kit do not appear to be on your instructions list.
Have you thought about the cable reel version (conversion in resin)?

Any thoughts on the recoiless rifles with tows?

It was already released as 284058 Goliath Tracked Mine with Crew.
Need time to upload instructions to the forum.
Have you thought about the cable reel version (conversion in resin)?
Only if we have the time to do it...
Any thoughts on the recoiless rifles with tows?
Not sure yet, as our digital sculpt projects are almost always busy!

Thanks for the replies.
I forgot about the Goliath kit (I forgot at Salute as well ^__^).
