Wish Lists / Re: Sdkfz 251 A/B and 232

Sorry about that, didn`t mean too stir up a hornets nest,

I got the date of mid 1942 from the sdkfz Wikipedia page. :-\

But on the tanks-encyclopedia.com site it states the Ausf C was produced late 1941. Seems that there is a lot of conflicting data going around.

I think I will get some Protze trucks in the mean time, you can never have too much transport..

Wish Lists / Heads - you Win..
« on: June 03, 2020, 04:36:17 pm »
I recently got some British figures from the web store and they are brilliant.

What would be nice is if RM make blister pack with different heads or release more packs of the same figures but with different heads.

British would have netted / added webbing helmets and the 1944 (turtle) helmets.
Would ANZAC / Indian turban heads work for the Burma campaign.

The US could have a few netted helmets / head wearing a cap/ afro American heads

Germans -foliage covered helmets, field caps/side caps / bare heads

Russians- side caps ( enemy at the gate )

I see some vehicle sets have optional heads but if applied to the infantry sets it would increase the variaty in the range without making new figures.

Wish Lists / Sdkfz 251 A/B and 232

It would be nice to have an early 251 to cover the German army for 1939 - 41 campaign's since the 251C was produced from mid 1942.

I guess this could be done as an upgrade set; top hull with vision ports for the A , front hull armour, tool configuration on side of hull..

Since I am looking into the early war period why have we not got any 232 8 rad a/c`s yet, for the Blitzkrieg and DAK, unless they are on the RM to do list but I think they have a lot to do at the moment.

General Discussions / Anyone having an Italian!

Something new from Italeri, and its one of their own country's armour. A Semovente

Alas, I am not into the desert campaign but I have one word too describe the model
and it is....
WOOF !

I wonder if they may upscale any other 1/72 Italian items that do.....

IBG Models make a QLR tractor and Wireless in 1/72 scale.
Looking at the parts RM would need to make them as an upgrade set, similar to the Opel body set....hay......must not get too far ahead of oneself, the RM workforce need a brake from work as well.

Just to ask....is the gun for early/mid war? I have seen a few American/Normandy photos that that have different styles of stabaliser arms that fold in for transport mode.

www.scalewarmachines.com has some close up pictures of the guns breach and side guard..........and lots of other bits that may be of interest to you all.

I was hoping for a plastic model with options to make a Mk I / II and a few bits to make an Italian Autoblinder Lince or a captured one in German service, such as  Wittmann`s Dingo.
Warlord games and Perry miniatures make a a resin/metal one so it would be interesting to see how they compare.

 >:( A great addition for the early war stuff and some great images but......

You can see both sides of the track, on the face side you can see the guide teeth but are they are absent on the other. The sherman tracks are the same.

Could it be possible to add a strip of teeth on the sprue or make a small jig so we can make our own. It would help if you mould them on the reverse side of the rear idler and drive sprocket as a starting point. I will still get a few of them.....

Is it me or have I just seen the future.....A Wespe and a MarderII on th design board :D

I would prefer an all plastic model for the Halftrack as an upgrade set like the M21,
and do the mixed media stuff with the late trailer as most of us wargames/modelers
of WW2 will have no use for the trailer.

I hate the smell of resin in the morning:(

A very good looking kit.....but with so many variants I feel it should have been made into 2 New kits ,one for the early III`s and one for the J-M. One can't help thinking that apart from having vast amount of spare bits, You will end up with lots a waste plastic that will end up in the bin.
RM are too generous too please everyone, just think about the poor soul who has to draught the model instructions....

A nice meaty choice for an allied A/C. Apart from a mkI and mkII there is a possibility of an AA version. I have been looking on www.warwheels.net as there are some good images of the Staghound.
If you like armoured cars then this site may interest you.
Personally I would like too see in the future a Humber mkI,II,III and IV.

Work In Progress / Re: Willys MB Jeep - Plastic Upgrades 190920

The rear seat option should have been in the jeep kit. The rear of the jeep still does not have the two oval bumper/foot stirrups on the chassis. Some single .3 and.5cal ammo boxes and few more single US fuel cans and British climates for the early stages of the war.

A British airborne upgrade of a radio and operator to sit in the back of the jeep, a bobbin cable reel and spare battery boxes to place on the mudguards. A rear rack too hold drop baskets or a field ambulance set may be of use but this could be made from the stretcher parts from the 3 in 1 251D kit......I have just talked myself into getting one. ;D

Items such as 6lb or US howitzer ammo boxes would be of use but only if these allied gun will eventually be made and be parts included in the kit.

Unfortunately,I am not a fan of resin tracks due to casting quality and needing two types of glue to complete a model as well as sticking my fingers together. I like the Link`n` Length tracks in the Revell 1/72 and the Tamiya 1/48 tanks.
I have not got any RM tanks at the moment but looking at some pictures you only need to see the track detail around the drive and rear sprockets. Tamiya tracks are made up of two track links together with a slight curve so four parts fit around the drive sprocket so RM could do a few parts to upgrade a Sherman/Panzer IV without the need to make resin tracks.

The only real problem I have is what version of panzer IV i like best.....choices choices.....
