Work In Progress / Re: RSO/01 & RSO/03 Sprue Layout 210705
« on: July 05, 2021, 07:14:12 pm »
What was changed?  We had added RSO/03 to the kit, together with a rear canvas top, and two crew figures.

Enjoy!

It had been a while since this project had been updated due to work priorities.  Also, we had to revise the overall design to streamline it for plastic mould injection as well.

Here is the initial sprue layout for the project.  Once approved, the RSO will be moved to mould making.

Enjoy!

Good choice, you can never have too many trucks.

We had been looking for a "long life span" truck that is easily accessible by different countries (non-NATO) up until now.

The ZIS-150 / ZIL-164 seems to be a good choice as there are 774,615 being produced and some are still in use around the world today.

The ZIS-150 was built by ZIS/ZIL in Russia between 1947 and 1957, by the Romanian Steagul Rosu as the SR-101 (1954 to 1960), and by the Chinese FAW Jiefang as the CA-10 (1958-1986).

New Project for the month of July 2021... Soviet ZIS-150 / ZIL-164 4x2 4t Truck.

Finally, a transport for the NVA/PAVN or any other conflicts and can be used as a civilian truck!

This ZIS-150 kit also has the option to build as a ZIL-164 as well.

Work In Progress / Re: Soviet BTR-60PA/B APC TS1 Test Assembly 210625

From reliable Vietnamese sources, the Soviets had supplied "used" BTR-60PB to the PAVN towards the end of the Vietnam War.

Here are a few video captures of the BTR-60PB moving towards Saigon on the last days of the war.  From what we were told, these videos were Vietnamese documentaries that had not been seen outside of Vietnam until recently.

The BTR-60 was not in Vietnamese use during the Vietnam War. The earliest operational use of the BTR-60 by the PAVN that I am aware of is in Cambodia post 1979 as part of the Vietnamese counter-insurgency there (Vietnam's Vietnam as some would have it).

This is not the case from various online sources and publications.  A popular wiki source...

Work In Progress / Re: Renault FT Light Tank - 3D Prototypes 210628
« on: June 28, 2021, 11:36:11 am »
These are our studio 3D prototypes for the Renault FT tanks which include the standard FT tank with casted & riveted turrets and the TSF command tank.

You might also notice we had dropped the M1917 variant due to a relatively large number of minor detail changes and limited sprue space.  An unfortunate sacrifices but you do get the more useful TSF variant.

I'm not questioning your starting point or complaining, I'm just suggesting decal choices for your Soviet made vehicles from this era :)

Not at all.  The decal choices you suggested will probably be included on the decal sheets... in fact, we are looking into more to cover different period similar to what we did for the British Centurion tank.

I know you are making these for The Vietnam War, but Warsaw Pact countries and The Soviet Union, and Soviet Naval Infantry would be a great choice

TBH, all the post-WW2 releases needed a starting point as "vehicles of interest" to turn into a project, hence we choose the Vietnam War.  However, all these "chosen" vehicles must have a lifespan well beyond the Vietnam War (Cold War era and the more recent conflicts); otherwise, they will not be justified to become a plastic kit because of the financial aspect of each project.

Hopefully you did your homework on the rubber for your tires .,Tamiya and Dragon have had various problems with their rubber tracks and tires , with them either drying out over time and crumbling , or turning into a sticky gummy mess still inside the box .  Personally I would rather have plastic wheels not rubber , maybe offer both types in the kit , or the rubber as a after market option like your various resin pieces ?

The problem with "rubber" nowadays is that they are not actually natural rubber at all; they are "synthetic rubber" from artificial elastomer.  We have done our homework on the subject.  When we designed the wheels and tyre, there is no need to force-fit the two, thus minimising the chance for the rubber tyre to crack after an extended period of time.  Two of the major reasons for the rubber to crumble is the climate, synthetic rubber hates cold weather and UV lights!

For those who dislike rubber tyres, we have plans to release a set of 3D printed wheel & tyre sets after the kit is released.

We had totally overlooked all updates for the BTR project... sorry!

A quick recap...
- After the initial BTR-60P drawings, we had added both BTR-60PA and BTR-60PB to the projects.
- However, the 3 variants differed significantly in design and we had to drop the original BRT-60P for the newer variants.
- The result is a 2 sprue plastic kit with slide moulds for the 2 upper hulls and a lower one, plus 8 fully detailed rubber tyres.
- On a side note, we probably will do a resin or 3D print product for the BTR-60P after this project is done.
