Rubicon Models Plaque 2014

While our first six kits are being send to factory for commercial production... and in-between projects, we have created a plaque as something that we are going to give away for special occasions!  The first thing that came to mind is a gift to our new partners – various Regional Distributors who will help us promote and sell our products.  Next in line will be for sponsoring special events in the near future!

Clay Sculpt based on some old WW2 pictures and our tanks!

Resin Duplicate of the Clay Sculpt

The Giveaway Version of the Plaque

A Painted Version – Just for Fun!

Sample of Use of the RM Plaque – For Distributors (samples only)

Sample of Use of the RM Plaque – For Special Events (samples only)

This type of WIP projects will not even be posted on our webpage or Facebook page, or only be posted at a much later date.
This is also one of the reasons to register and visit the forum frequently.  Enjoy!

About Rubicon Models

Rubicon Models manufactured hard plastic kits for the Tabletop Miniature Games and Military Modeling market.

Company Overview

For many years we have been a Design Studio, working on numerous projects for many Tabletop Miniature Game manufacturers and Computer Games publishers.  When not designing miniatures for other people, we play and paint miniatures for fun ourselves.  Our dream has always been to create miniatures under a brand name of our own.

The time has come to realize that dream with the launch of Rubicon Models.

Our vision is to create the best hard plastic model kits for the Tabletop Miniature Game and Military Modelling market. Each kit will be easy to assemble, highly detailed and accurate.

Our first project is to launch a series of hard plastic World War II vehicles and tanks in 1/56 (28mm) scale.  What distinguishes us from other companies in this field is not only fine detail and accuracy but also all of our kits will be multi-variant.  Each kit you buy might have several choices of main gun, two choices of road wheels, three choices of gun turret, detachable protective armour or even two choices of hull.

You get more choice for your money with a Rubicon kit!

You get more value for your money with a Rubicon kit!

Our name stands for:

- Great Detail & High Quality
- True to Scale & Historically Accurate
- Multi-Variant & Multi-Option
- Easy to Assemble (designed for Wargamers)
- Easy to Paint

We are working hard to release new kits on a regular basis.  Our plan is to grow the range by adding one kit per month to help you build up your arsenal of weaponry, and to aid you to become the best-equipped general in your gaming community!

Wish Lists / British Tanks? What British Tanks?
« on: September 09, 2014, 08:57:32 pm »
GREAT BRITAIN you say? Well, many people had asked us why we don’t have any British vehicles yet! The fact is we don’t know where to start... we had considered a few, especially the Churchill, but the tank is just too big and had too many variants to research. We had also looked into others too - desert war, early war, mid and late war? What are your thoughts?

PS: Mind you all... this is not going to happen overnight! We still have a few more vehicles on the queue and in the works! So you still have to wait!!

The following is an edited transcript of the discussion we had on Facebook before the forum is active!  You can continue with the discussion here...

Dominic Payne:  Also an Archer would be awesome as no one produces one yet (as far as I know).

Dominic Payne:  I think a Mk2 Valentine would be great you could do the 2pdr, 6pdr and the 75mm variants.  Although I would have to buy 2, one for my Russian army and one for my planned 8th army.

Thierry Joly:  Churchill MKVII and Grant too

Thierry Joly:   Matilda, Cromwell and Crusader will be a good choice.

Melvin Brookman:  Cromwell please!

Rubicon Models:  Cromwell is easy to do, but someone else is already doing a plastic...

Michael Bliss:  True Rubicon, but so companies are going to go in to the plastic type more and more, just keep doing what you’re doing and regardless of other companies you will get your ‘own’ customer following and they will buy, I know I will and I was doing 15mm!!

Thomas Hoellering:  I really-really think that you ought to have started with Pre-War tanks first. Then produce tanks on the order that they appeared on the battlefields.  As the war progressed, so did tank design.  And as you design larger and larger tanks, you too gain design experience.  And new and old players can follow your design path from the 1930’s to the 1950’s.

Michael Bliss:  still would like a Churchill sometime so do hope you reconsider, I think it would sell well, Id have a slack handful or what J. R. Tranter said.

Rubicon Models:  The Churchill is definitely on our to-do list.  We just need to sort out the various variants and decided on a production plan.  For each vehicle, we had to go through a lot of research and photo references, plus need to fit everything into three sprues... not an easy task, particularly for a large tank like a Churchill!

Michael Bliss:  Completely understood, many thanks for the clarification, looking forward to October.

Steve Blease:  Not sure if you have plans already for an M3 Lee/Grant but please, please, please do an option for the British Lee used in Burma (they replaced the little mg cupola with a hatch).  No one does this version and it bugs me!  http://www.military-art.com/mall/more.php?ProdID=18015

Chris Long:  Sherman V and Firefly.

Tim Young:  What about the Mitilda MKI

Arven Rauth:  Challenger.  No one makes a Challenger

Rubicon Models:  The Challenger was very late war 44-45, and only about 200 was actually produced. Not sure a plastic kit is worth the efforts (commercial viewpoint-wise).

Arven Rauth:  Thing is I don’t think your sales are based on numbers of tanks that actually saw service but rather desirability.  I know pretty much any gamer who does British Guards Armoured or Polish will want one and there are a few of those about.

Steve Blease:  Sherman Firefly.  I love the early stuff but the Firefly would make more commercial sense.

Rubicon Models:  Good point taken! Thanks Steve!

Jamie Rafiki Tranter:  Sherman V with optional Firefly parts.

Rubicon Models:  May be... could be an add-on sprue to our existing range at a later stage!

Richard Thomson:  Comet.  Not a common model from what I can see.

Rubicon Models:  Not a lot of Comet tanks reached the front line before the war ended in 1945...

Lim Jyue:  Cromwell is probably good, though there’s only a couple of variation (Centaur and Normandy cowl really). You can stretch that (literally) into a Challenger I suppose...  Crusaders are good, especially if you can work the various guns and the AA versions.  17 pdr guns and mine flails might be good as a starting point since you do have a Sherman version coming out. M4A4 was it? That’d be a Sherman V, which did have the Sherman Vc conversion.

Rubicon Models:  Lim, good points! Notes taken!

Barnaby Jones:  The Comet would be a nice start

Richard Clark:  Cruiser tanks would be nice. I really like the Grant too (not strictly British I know but it would be a good kit with an option for the Lee turret).

David Maltman:  I am for the early cruiser tanks A9, 10 and 13, may even be able to put them on a single sprue.

Moritz Schinke:  Matilda.

Tomas Gaisare:  Churchill would be my vote, if not then the crusader or lee.  Would you at any point consider doing 1/48 scale?

Blair Oakley:  Matilda or Crusader.

Peter Duellist Martindale:  My vote would be for the Churchill.

  • Try to stay on topic.
If you want to discuss a subject that is not currently addressed, create a new thread. Always be specific with your post's title, the subject line should indicate what's inside the thread. ("Look here!" or "Read!! This is important!" do not constitute acceptable thread titles). Always choose the appropriate forum in which to place your thread. Please use private messages (PM's) when you wish to talk directly to a user.

  • In order to maintain an environment that promotes ease in the exchange of information, spamming is prohibited.
Spamming includes posting the same message repeatedly, cross posting the same message in multiple forums, making pointless threads or replies, excessive use of "smilies", as well as any advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, click-wars (referrals), or solicitations including ebay-type spam. Please avoid pointless bumping of old (dead) threads. You may bump a topic or a very important thread elsewhere, but not whilst the thread is still on the first page of the forum.

  • This is the Official Rubicon Models Forums and we take complaints and accusations seriously, but...
Posting complaints or accusations against us or any other manufacturers in these forums are pointless. Please use our Customer Support section on our website to report your allegations, NOT our forums. It may take some time but using Customer Support is the only option that guarantees your report will be read and investigated by us.

  • Members may not attempt to misguide other members.
This includes creating user names that impersonate manufacturers, forum staff, or other forum members.

  • Posts that are disparaging toward any religion, race, nation, social status, gender, or sexual orientation are strictly forbidden.
Any post using excessive vulgarity, threatening or harassing, obscene or hateful, deliberately inaccurate or misleading, explicitly sexual in nature, an invasion of a person's privacy, abusing our censor, or in any other way violates the law, may be edited or removed and the user may be banned (at the discretion of the Administrators). Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but if your opinion involves the disrespect of others then it shall be deleted. • Mild, intelligent flaming is allowable.
However, pointless harassment aimed at a specific individual or group of people is not acceptable. It is not our intention to limit the poster's option to use occasional curse words to demonstrate a point. However pointless, excessive, or obscene cursing will be edited or deleted. There is a chat filter in operation, which will disguise certain inappropriate words. Do not use unusual spellings or other means to bypass the filter!

  • BB Code may be used only for images, links, or nondisturbing (excessive) text.
Use of images, flash, or text within the body of a message may be restricted as deemed necessary by Moderators for board performance issues. Always convert your images to '.gif', '.jpg', or '.png' graphic formats before posting. Never use .bmp's as their size is large and bandwidth consuming. You should also 'crop' all images before posting to reduce their physical size and prevent forum distortion.

  • The maximum image/flash size for signatures is 300 (width) x 150 (height) x 30,000 bytes (size).
This applies to the TOTAL size of the signature, meaning that if there is more than 1 image, their sizes are added together to get a total size. It is allowable to use a small amount of text as well as a picture, however please be respectful to other users and limit the amount. Please also remember that use of any sound, java script or iframe is prohibited. Excessive use of blood and gore is not allowed either - this is determined by the staff member dealing with the 'case' at that time. Real-life pictures in signatures or in avatars will not be allowed either. This is for your own protection! • Moderators and staff members will use their discretion in taking any actions.
They are here to ensure the rules are applied, to keep order, and to help members. Posting personal attacks against Moderators or staff members for taking these actions will not be tolerated. If you disagree with an action taken by a Moderator, DO NOT confront a Moderator anywhere on the forums, NOR anywhere else (3rd party messenger programs, chats, etc). Please attempt to resolve the issue through PM's (private messages) in a professional matter. If you are not satisfied with the resolution, please send your complaint to the board Administrator. Moderators will give everyone the respect they deserve, its only fair they get the same in return. NOTE: Moderators do not have the ability to ban people. Only Administrators have the power to do this. There are always at least 2 people involved in putting a ban in place - the Mod that finds a breaking of the rules, and the Admin who takes the action they feel is appropriate.

  • English is the board’s primary language.
We understand that English is not everyone’s native tongue. All we are saying is that if you post something in another language besides English. You should, if possible, also post an English translation of it. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as you try to get it as close as you can.
Penalties:
Posters who break these rules may have their posts moved, edited, or deleted. Moderators are not required to note the reason for edit or removal of a post. Please direct your questions regarding the reason behind removal or edit of a thread to the board Moderator through a PM (private message). Habitual or severe violators may have their posting privileges removed, and their accounts and/or IPs suspended or may be permanently banned. Moderators/Administrators will use their best judgement in deciding the most appropriate course of action. If you feel that any Moderator has made an inappropriate decision, please contact an Administrator.

NOTE: We are unable to distinguish the difference between users who use the same PC/IP address via router, proxy, or other means to use the forums, aside from their username. This means that if you are banned, then any other names "you" have will also be banned. If you misbehave on the forums and get banned, your whole family, household, or school could potentially also lose their posting rights. It is up to YOU to follow the forum rules so this does not become an issue. Ban Appeals with a reason of "It wasn't me, it was my brother" will unfortunately need to be declined as there is no way for us to prove or disprove your claim. Sorry - but that's the way it has to be.

Monitoring:
Although the Administrators and Moderators of this forum will attempt to remove posts that are objectionable or in violation of the stated rules of this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. Any user who feels that a posted message is in violation of the forum rules is encouraged to contact a Moderator or Administrator. We have the ability and right to edit or remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time if it is determined that the action is appropriate.

Terms of Service:
The Code of Conduct applies to both public and private messages. Users authorize the Administrator to make use of any concepts, opinions, or other creative materials posted on the forum boards without compensation or other recourse.
