Tracks, the 57mm/6pdr gun is also in the pipeline.

Really? Don't tease my friend  :)

That's great to hear, and the good thing about this AT-Gun is that it can probably be marketed as an American or British AT-Gun because the American 57mm gun M1 was a very close copy of the British QF 6-Pdr. I'm sure Rubicon Models can easily take advantage of this by making the kit with the option to assemble either the British QF 6-Pdr or the American 57mm gun M1. Also, maybe with extra bonus bits to make the American Paratrooper version of the 57mm gun M1. This would make it very marketable. Lots of potential for this little kit.

As for the crew, Rubicon Models can do the same thing that they did with their Jeep kits. That is, have a different sprue for the crew.

Because of this...

I had to update the list at the very start of this thread.
This might be the last update.  :-X

Some of us are still hoping for:
M3 Medium (Lee) – best if it can be a Lee & Grant kit. Two birds with one stone.
57mm Gun M1 / QF 6-pounder (American/British) AT-Gun – best if it can be a combo kit. Two birds with one stone. Similar to what RM did with their Jeep kit.
Also some Soviet AT-Guns and an SU-76 wouldn't be a bad addition as well.

Yes, it would be nice, but EWG and ripley make good points.

That being said, maybe the best way to approach this project is to start with the Ausf B and just ignore the Ausf A altogether.

From there, maybe add a few bits to try and add more to the kit - if not difficult - so that an Ausf C/D/E can be made from the same kit.

Another idea would be to just ignore the Ausf A & B and start with the Ausf C/D/E.

The Panzer IV: jagdpanzer IV, Stug IV, Brummbar, Nashorn, Ostwind has come up a few times.
Also the panzer III: early stug III has had some talk too.
But I agree, talking about some conversions of existing vehicles is good.

Great... just when I think I am getting out, they pull me back in!

Another kit I am going to have to get.

The bad news is that I want to get them now.

The good news is that this project will not be completed anytime soon. That means no worries about how I am going to get a couple of them. Somewhat like the Panzer II. That kit is still not available. For me, that is good and bad.  ???

I think it would be better if Rubicon tackled the 231 family , as no one else has done in plastic , yet

Now that you said this, I too find it interesting that Rubicon Models didn't tackle the 231/232 (8-rad) family. Seems so obvious now.

Especially since the 231 (8-rad) and the 232 (radio-version) were introduced before the Polish campaign and used until the end of the war. A far better choice for wargamers and modellers alike.

However, maybe Rubicon Models is up to something we don't know yet, or it could be just a blunt oversight.

No more kit-bashing

http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=764.msg10888

or wishing for

http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=1101.msg14579

Side Note:
The fact this project will be a minimum of ALL four basic variants is a big bonus, but that being said, some of us already have multiples of this vehicle in our collections. I for example already have three of the four basic variants, so I guess that means I only have to get one of these kits so I can add the 234/4 to my collection.

234/1 - Very easy kit-bashing (Italeri + Rubicon Models turret)
234/2 - Italeri kit (out of the box)
234/3 - Basic kit-bashing (Italeri + Rubicon Models conversion kit)
234/4 - N/A

Hmmm... I think this new Rubicon Models kit is nice, but I am still waiting for the M3 Medium (Grant/Lee) kit.  ;)

nazadsam, painting Soviet trucks and Katyushas are pretty simple.

I have some of these kits as well. I also have a couple of books on painting Soviet vesicles.

When it comes to trucks, there is not a lot going on. If you don't have any reference books, using the model's box (front art and back painting guide) is a good start, but also have a quick google search should give you lots of ideas.

Overall, there were not a lot of markings, and in some cases you can just paint the truck Soviet Green and use no markings (decals).

We already have the PaK 36, PaK 38 (with conversion), and PaK 40 as well as the 88, so for German WW2, that covers pretty much everything the typical table top-gamer would need to play games like Bolt Action, Chain of Command. Operation Squad, and so on.

BTW, the PaK 36, 38, and 40 are fantastic plastic model kits (5-Star). The crews could be a little bit better though (3-star). The 88 looks like another fantastic plastic model kt, but I have not actually assembled mine yet. But I'm sure it will be 5-Stars.

For the Allies, we will get the US M2A3 75mm, the US M3 37mm, and the British QF 17/25-pdr gun.

So, what I would really like to see sooner than later are:

 8) ZiS-3 AT gun for the Soviets
 8) US 57mm AT-Gun M1 AT-Gun
 8) British QF 6-Pdr AT-Gun

Note: There is great potential for the 57mm AT-Gun M1 AT-Gun and the British QF 6-Pdr AT-Gun plastic kit because the same sprue for the AT-Gun can be setup with the needed bits and parts to build either the American or British gun (Standard or maybe even Airborne versions). As for crew, separate American and British crew sprues can be added. Pretty much like what Rubicon Models did with their Jeep kits - same Jeep parts and bits but different US and British driver/passengers.

Not convinced the new colour is any better. Might settle for green if I can’t make this look ok.

My vote is for British Green.

...how about doing some artillery for them to haul?

You are not alone. These have been on several wish lists for sometime now. And not just Soviet artillery.
Plastic AT guns for the Allies would be nice additions. Especially a ZiS-3 AT gun for the Soviets

Still can't wait for the Panzer II kit to be released. With the pandemic situation going on, I guess it will still be awhile before we see this beauty? Any projected dates set?

I already have a resin + metal Panzer II from Warlord Games, and it works for tabletop gaming, but I look forward to replacing it with a wonderful Rubicon Models kit.

It’s not an exact match to the one in the photo, but what’s to say Mr Nguyen didn’t own more than one

After you apply your "dust and fading", it will look the part. Looking forward to seeing the final work.

I have one more CCKW (Rubicon Models) kit in my stash, so if I ever get into Vietnam War tabletop gaming, maybe I will do the same. However, chances are it will be a WW2 truck in the end - probably with American war paint.

This is the beauty I have been waiting for. It has been a long wait, but the end is nearly in sight.

Sadly, my local store cannot get Rubicon Models stuff anymore. As a result, the shipping costs (for me) are higher than the cost of the model kits. So it just makes sense to make one big order than multiple small ones. All I have to do now is wait for the Panzer II to get released. I waited this long for the SdKfz.10, I can wait a bit longer.
