Tracks - just a discussion on dates and things
Ad - tanks-encyclopedia.com is also wrong.  I have referenced multiple books that point out the Aus C was manufactured starting January 1940.

EWG: thanks to you I can now quickly identify whether a picture is of an Aus A, B or C.  Most Aus A & B photos appear to be training pictures.  In 1941 both were still fielded with more pictures of the Aus B than A.

EWG you can disagree with the facts all you want but it doesn't change them.  I didn't write the book, David Doyle is the author.
After about 232 SdKfz 251 Aus A vehicles had been produced, production shifted to the  SdKfz 251 Aus B.  The author reports that about 350 Aus B half-tracks were produced.
A company of the Infantry Regiment of the 1st Panzer Division stationed at Weimar received their first complement of Gepanzerter Mannschafts Transportwagen (MTW) in the spring of 1939 just in time to be used operationally during the Polish campaign.
You are correct that many infantry units used trucks to transport troops.
I was correcting the above statement that the Aus C was produced from 1942 on.  As previously indicated production began January 1940. How many Aus C were used in France 1940 I currently don't know.

Converting an existing model of an Aus C to represent an Aus B would require modeling the front 2 intersecting pieces of armor.  The other modeling would need to be done to top front of the engine hood for the engine cooling grille.  Then there's the armored covers to protect the cooling air exhausts which the Aus A and B didn't have. The fenders over the Aus C tracks were designed with a slight up-sweep near the front .  And of course the round bumper which the Aus C doesn't have.

From "The Complete Guide to German Armored Vehicles" found on page 258:
"The Sdkfz 251 Aus C entered production in January 1940 and more producers joined the list of manufacturers".

Sweet!

I want the M3 Lee too.  It'll lead to the M12 155mm sniper howitzer as used in the battle for Aachen.

Add a Pak 40 to the back and you'd have a late war mobile anti-tank vehicle.  This will be a fabulous kit.

George Bradford's Stackpole book was of no help showing a Pz II Aus b with original running gear, a Pz II Aus C with angle front and an Pz II Aus F.
The more I explore this Panzer I see pictures of Pz II Aus A with angled fronts, Pz II Aus C with angled fronts but plenty of rounded hulls of the Pz II Aus b & c in pictures from 1938 - 1941 on all active fronts..
I'm encouraged by the above request for blueprints.

EWG - good post about the rounded hull fronts.

Page 5 top image:  "Pz.Kpfw. II Aus C... The rounded front hull part was typical of this version.  It was finally changed in the Aus. D and later models. [Kagero Archive]"
Would there be rounded front hulls for the Aus. A - Aus. C?

The Pz.Kpfw. II Aus. D (Schnellpanzer) has a different engine deck, will this build be possible?  The Aus. E?

Page 6 bottom image shows a captured Pz.Kpfw. II Aus. F with a "Rommel chest" and no stowage box on the left rear fender.
So does the photo on page 19 show another North Afrika Pz.Kpfw. II Aus. F without a left side stowage box.
Would a second stowage box be an option with the left rear fender designed with the jack in place?

So you've suffered casualties.

What a wonderful project.  How much variation will there be in the decal set?  Would it include German markings?

44
Of course it means the forth coming development of towed field artillery pieces, such as the 25-pounder gun-howitzer and anti-tank guns like the 17-pounder.  Surely not this quarter or perhaps even the next.
Also needed would be the 6-pounder aka 57mm anti-tank gun.
And since I'm off on this tangent might as well mention the Russian 76.2mm anti-tank gun and howitzer.

Those Panzerkampfwagen IIIs look magnificent!
