Need help from our fans! Do you know what is this tube for at the rear end of the SdKfz 251/16?
Since there are no more than 360 variants produced, and from historical photo, most 251/16 do not have this tube... what is it for?

Could it be some sort of overflow/emergency fuel dump?
-
Could there be an attachment point on the end of it for the portable flamethrower that the 251/16 also carried?

These tubes appear on every photo of an /16 that I've seen. They're not related to the portable flamethrower, because they still appear on versions produced after the handheld weapon was deleted. I think they were drains of some kind, but I can't find any mention of them in the references I have.

possibly an overflow pipe as the tanks are under pressure when used.
