Captain Blood:
How detailed reference material do you need to work from? There are many, many contemporary photographs of the LRDG chevrolets, and the Imperial War Museum appear to have one of the vehicles in their collection... I’m sure there are other surviving / restored examples. I guess it’s not possible to get the actual blueprints for the original 1940s vehicles to work from. What kind of reference / source material do you use for your other projects if it’s not photographs and surviving examples?

ripley:
And there are a few good web sites out there . Even found one LRDG fan  site out of Germany , with lots of info and war time photos . Some sites also list reference sources and books that would be of interest to those wanting to expand their knowledge of the various LRDG squadrons

ultravanillasmurf:
It turns out I have only one photograph of the example at the IWM, and that is not particularly informative.

The bibliography in Osprey's Warrior 148: Long Range Desert Patrolman is also a good start.

ripley:
That's the only photo you took , or the only one you can find ? lol , rusty fuel cans  . I feel your pain , took a whole bunch of photos of a T-34/85 in Prague , back in the 90s and left the lens cap on  :-[

ultravanillasmurf:
I think I took that photograph and another one of the cans.

Though there is not a lot of big hardware there (not like Duxford or Bovington) there was a lot and I just did not photograph it (the IWM is where the three Jerry cans photograph came from).

At Bovington I did not photograph the KV-1...
