I’m sure it could be done, but it would be a major operation, and then of course - well there’s no interior...  :)

To me, these photos emphasise the fact that the model is a solid lump of resin.  The lack of windows and an interior is very obvious in this scale.

I suppose if I were an avid AFV modeller producing pieces for displays or dioramas this would be a concern. Luckily I'm just a wargamer - albeit with quite high modelling and painting standards  ;D

Interestingly it's far from a solid lump of resin. If you picked it up you would think it was plastic - it's that lightweight. But yes, it does have blanks where the windows should be. It will be an interesting painting challenge - as mine will be for the middle east, I think the windows will be portrayed in the aftermath of a sandstorm... Although the fact that the wiper blades are moulded in an active position is going to make that tricky...  ::)

I've recently built the Rubicon CMP truck kit - which has no windows at all - just empty space: which someone picked up on, on another forum. Solid windows or no windows... Not sure which is the worse sin? As I say, I'm not bothered by it either way. From tabletop viewing distance in a wargame they look the part and are a great deal nicer than the alternatives out there.

Meanwhile, I've seen various images of the vehicle in olive green when used as a military staff car, so that's what I'll go for - along with some very unhistorical use of decals  :)
Apparently around 800 - 900 were in French military service by May 1940. I'm sure a few of these must have made their way to Syria and ended up used by Vichy...

I am the proud possessor of a Rubicon Models Citroen Traction Avant 11CV picked up at Salute - another beautifully crisp lightweight resin kit.
Does anyone know, for the military option, would it be painted and marked like a military vehicle - or just black like a civilian car, but with official numberplates?
(I'm going to do the former, either way. But am interested to know if that's purely fantastical / wishful thinking, as opposed to strictly historically accurate...  ;D)

I got all the French resin vehicles. Instructions inside the lid in each box. Stupid question I know, but did you check inside the lid?  :)

The casting quality really is superb. If I didn’t know it was resin, I’d have said it was plastic. Totally lightweight and wonderfully sharp detail. Absolutely top notch. Can’t wait to get started on them  :)

How detailed reference material do you need to work from? There are many, many contemporary photographs of the LRDG chevrolets, and the Imperial War Museum appear to have one of the vehicles in their collection... I’m sure there are other surviving / restored examples. I guess it’s not possible to get the actual blueprints for the original 1940s vehicles to work from. What kind of reference / source material do you use for your other projects if it’s not photographs and surviving examples?

Showcase & Gallery / Rubicon 15 Cwt. CMP truck completed
« on: March 21, 2018, 10:05:10 pm »
So, with newly restored eyeballs following a double cataract op entailing two months off painting; followed by various experiments with expensive custom milled modelling specs (£250 - completely useless) and cheap optical devices (optivisor - £25, brilliant) to get me back in the saddle, I have now finished my Rubicon 15 Cwt. Canadian Military Pattern truck.

Very nice model, quite easy to put together - but somewhat fiddly to paint with all those nooks and crannies.
The fellow with the Thompson is concocted from a 1/56 Rubicon body, 1/56 Perry arms and a Tamiya 1/48 head - doesn't look too top heavy though  :)
The stowage is from Rubicon with a couple of Perry bits.

And a couple of 'en scene' shots...  :)

So not too far from the old Airfix 1/32 scale in size then.
Are these just large scale castings of the CAD modelled infantry archetypes that will provide the base for eventual 28mm sets?  :)

Excellent news. Another step forward on the Rubicon road to world domination!  :)

When you say direct sales only, I take it that means your US webstore? Sorry if I missed it, but do you also have direct sales in Europe, the UK, and the rest of the world?

Nicely done. Great groundwork, quite apart from everything else  :)
