Title: Q4/18 & Q1/19 New Releases - New Unboxing Video 190212
Post by: Rubicon Models on November 20, 2018, 06:51:00 pm
With all Q3/18 releases completed, we are already working on our Q4/18 and Q1/19 releases.

Our initial plan was to give you all a truck-load of X'mas items, but freight schedule is very tight and the booking fees are super-expensive!  We are now going to split the releases into two lots, a small release before year-end and the remaining items right after the New Year.

You might ask what is coming?  Stay tuned to this post for more info...

Intrigued to see what is coming! I'm hoping the resin "upgrade" tracks for the Tiger etc are still on the way, as don't think we've had any news on them for a while?

The tracks are now on the production queue.  We had spent an extra amount of time to resolve some production and engineering issues as to how the tracks should be produced, thus the long delay!

Good guesses johan, but with the clues and history of previous RM posts, I would have to say these are for the:
kubelwagen (German Light Vehicles #2)
Panzer III (German Tanks #3)
SdKfz 7 (German Half Tracks #1) - seen in the Flak 36/37 post.
Kettenkrad (German Light Vehicles #1)

Not too many items for Q4/18 to save extra-expensive holiday seasons shipping cost...  Q1/19 is going to be a lot of releases!
We probably will include some extra blisters release for Q4/18 too!

Did you (RM) make changes to the model? Is the cover art created from different drawings? Or was it made using the same 3D diagrams used to make the model kit?

I ask because the cover art just does not look right. It looks different, like the demensions are off. Also the tires look smaller on the cover art. Maybe its the smaller tires that is causing an optical illusion.

Am I the only one seeing this?
Okay, it might just be me, but there are a few physical differences between the upper and lower pictures. For example, see the fenders? Note how they set higher on the side in lower picture. Overall, the lower picture looks more "correct".

@Tracks - They are two different 3D models. The rendering is from an off-the-shelf 3d model that we used for box art only.  So don't worry!

That is so good to hear!
I was worried for a moment.
Thank you for responding so quickly!

Is it to late to fix the cover art?
Never mind!.. That would delay the kit's release, and I don't want that to happen.

The Jagdpanther is very welcome.

Does anyone else wonder about the telegraph pole in the front. It looks like it is in the centre of the railway track. I know it happened (though mainly in sidings).

I did not know that "utility pole" was an American catch all term for sticks with stuff on.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utility_pole (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utility_pole)

I had always assumed that a Utility Pole was a power distribution pole (with the cylindrical transformer that explodes in a shower of sparks at some point in the film ^__^).

Yes, the Jagdpanther is nice, and I might get one of these plastic kits, even though I do not have a resin Jagdpanther to replace. However, I welcome the SdKfz 2 and SdKfz 7 plastic model kits.

I just wish there was an SdKfz 10 kit in plastic from Rubicon Models. The SdKfz 10 (produced and used from 1938 to 1945) was a very important transport vehicle for the German Army. Not to mention all the variants and field modifications it went through. But this is a topic for another thread for another time.

Your right  a 10 would be nice . As it is I'm already falling behind on my kit building ,( GAZ , 250 HT , T-26 , 88 , CMP , Jeep , etc  and I see BA has a plastic Matilda ! )  I can wait till next year to worry about not having a 10 , maybe by then I'll have built a gun for it to tow

In my spare time I am putting together some info and schematics of the Sd.Kfz 10, and when ready, will post it as a Wish List item. Hoping I can help Rubicon with some of the research, and lay out a proposal that catches their eye! I've got several good books on the subject, and hope that I have enough to lay out the construction, major models/changes, along with production numbers, to convince them we need such a vehicle!

One of the things they towed is that nice looking Nebelwerfer coming in 2019! And I like that they have a 20mm quad flak, because the Sd.Kfz towed those as well. And a single barrel Flak was built on to the back deck of certain models (and removable down ramps).

But that is indeed for another thread!

The SdKfz 10 towed many things including anti-tank guns, Flak, goulash cannons, howitzers.  The basic platform could be the genesis for many vehicle variants.  Like the T-26 a Sdkfz 10 kit could be many things.

(In my best Used Car Salesman voice) ...

"Oh, I see you are looking at our latest and greatest, the Sd.Kfz 10. Good choice there soldier. You got stuff to tow?  Why, this baby was designed to tow a wide variety of packages. You've got your 2cm FlaK 30 (.5 ton), 2cm Flak 38 (.5 ton), 3.7cm Pak 36 AT gun (.6 ton), 5cm Pak 38 AT gun (1 ton), and the 7.5cm le.IG 18 light infantry gun (.6 ton).

You wanna tow trailers? This baby has you covered.  It can tow a number of different models, including the Sd. Ah 32 (.8 ton) and Sd. Ah 51.

Of course, your D7 here is the base model. First model rolled off the assembly lines back in October 1938. And I have it on good authority they will still be cranking out these little gems up until November 1944.  How many other utility vehicles can say that?

But don't let the "utility" tag get you thinkin' this is just your basic towing vehicle. You wanna put the hurt on your opposing forces?  We've got you covered for that as well.

Step over here to the 10/4. This little jewel has a fold down platform on the back, and is fitted to carry a 2cm Flak 30. A devastating weapon against planes in the sky, and soft targets on the ground. And if you wanna drop of that gun and send the vehicle elsewhere, you can do that too.

Not enough firepower for ya?  Over here we have the 10/5. The 2cm Flak 38 has a far superior rate of fire. Of course, you will go through your ammo much faster as well, but if you pick up our optional ammo trailer for just a few Deutchmarks more, you will have plenty!

Not interested in flak guns?  Looking for something a bit more suited to take on opposing armour?  Why, there are customized versions of these puppy's with some sweet anti-tank guns mounted on the back.

But those are custom jobs. As a base unit, there is the D7, the 10/3 and the 10/5.  We had some earlier versions, one for chemical detection, one for chemical decontamination, and one for chemical dispersal, but those older models never saw much service. They were retooled at the factory, and turned into regular versions (or in rare cases, ammo haulers).

Speaking of the D7, there were several major upgrades that occurred during production, so shall I put you down for the early model?  Or would you like the one reinforced for heavier towed loads?

Options?  Of course there are options. Want your carbines out in the weather, or nestled in these nice fender protectors?  You want the early or the later wheel pattern?  We even have an optional air compression braking system, if you plan to haul heavy gear and need a little extra help coming to a complete halt.

Armour plates? Yep, we have a custom package for the front end, so you can face off against your enemies and shrug off their small arms fire.

Our earlier models come with ramps to make it easy to take that flak gun on and off again. Later models they did away with that to save weight. But the choice is yours?

I know, I know. Quite a few decisions to make. I am here to tell you soldier, this could be a sweet, sweet bundle. A nice "kit" if you will. Capable of covering a wide variety of needs. Depending on the sprue count (I discuss that with you later), this kit could cover anywhere from 1 to 6 base models, and different road wheels and reinforced hulls and platforms for different flak guns. Could be a real winner"

Maybe Rubicon Models has already been working on the SdKfz 10 plastic model kit in secret because they don't want anyone else to steal the idea. Also, they want to really surprise us and announce that they will be releasing their SdKfz 10 plastic kit this year thereby nullifying all the numerous requests for the SdKfz 10.  :o

No, I don't think so because they do benefit our feedback on future releases.
Just sort of a SdKfz 10 subliminal messaging stunt on my part.
