We can't tell you right now... not because it is a secret, but the Chinese New Year holiday always give us surprises!  We might be able to give you some more info after the holidays, which is the last week of February.  :-\

Cheers.

Probably not for a while, we have not seen any work on here yet:http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=395.0 (http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=395.0)

Yeah, it’s usually a year from when they announce/show the initial line drawings.

Its about a year from their first ideas , through the CAD design , to the test plastics and then our comments and then the revisions of the CAD  if needed and then they release it . I'm good with this approach as Rubicon do listen and fix things that they get something  wrong on the initial renders  .For example , 1st look at SU-122/ 85 had the spider wheels  of their T-34/85 . The SU122/85 s had the dish wheels ( early T-34/76 style ) , so they fixed it .   Some companies that just announce kits without getting feed back from the tank fans out here in the real world and hey usually get things wrong either by omission ( pistol ports on BA KV II )  or stupidity ( trying to reuse sprues from previous kits when actually the parts changed ). Yes I would like the kits to come quicker , but I already a stack to build and need to buy food and pay rent , lol

You don’t have to worry about rent ;)

It’s pretty standard in the industry. When I used to work for Big Evil Corp., their lead time was around 2yrs which is why they didn’t like the designers talking about upcoming stuff, mainly as the upcoming stuff was distant memory for them! That said, from what I heard blood bowl was done in 6months but the model quality shows the rush..

Rubicon Models will be at Salute (Apr 22) at ExCeL London.

WarHQ is kind enough to share part of their booth (TL11) with us.
We will be showcasing the latest prototypes and our most recent
releases. Come and say hello!

I do not think they were listed (somewhere I have the show guide, but it is not that important), hopefully this time I will look for them on the correct stand^__^. For some reason I thought they were on the PSC stand.

Will you keep update Production Schedule by moving from items from Mould Making onto Quality Control?

It looks like it is still in quality control http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=211.0 (http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=211.0)

The first quarter is always a bit of a nightmare with Chinese New Year looming large (it is very important and occupies quite a period of time - not just the day itself).

Not all things to everyone's liking, but this is a new step forward to expand our product lines!

It sometimes seems that 3 waves a year would be better than 4 because of the new year.

That said, with the web stores being set up and different ranges, maybe we’ll be getting new stuff more often than quarterly anyway

I guess there's going to be mixed feedback about this diversification.  I don't really care for the larger metal figures, or the resin vehicles, but I think the latter will be popular with a lot of people.  I think the concern is that this diversification may dilute the output of what most people regard as Rubicon's core product, which is plastic vehicles. Skipping a quarter tends to reinforce that concern for some of us.

I have to agree with Pinky ,  your going to turn off some people . I notice on your schedule some of the figure kits I was excited about and was hoping to get a few sets of , are coming out in pewter . Where as a plastic figure of  a guy tying his boot for example  can be easily changed  , pewter , not so much . Oh well , just have to get one set and hopefully wait for other seated plastics by you or someone else .  I can see releases personalities in resin / pewter ( Patton / Rommel ) but I would have thought  the regular rank and file troops , which we usually want various sets  of , would be best in plastic . I hope it all works out for you guys

Shame there are no plastic vehicles but it is an impressive array of stuff! I can understand the drive to diversify what Rubicon offer.

Hopefully the metal infantry releases will be followed up with more plastic. Don't know if I missed discussion on this in the WIP threads, but it surprises me that Zhukov/Rommel/etc are going to be plastic and yet something like the Soviet tank riders are metal...? (I can understand some of the other vehicle crews etc being metal but for wargaming purposes metal tank riders are not good - IMO)

It’s probably a decision that was made whether to add the kits to the plastic queue (and wait longer for it) or release them in pewter/resin and increase their portfolio.

Resin, pewter or plastic. It doesn’t bother me, as long as the quality is good.
Title: Re: Q1/2018???

Making good plastic figures require a different set of skills than designing plastic vehicle kits.  Making a few figures to accompany a vehicle kit is relatively easy, but to create an infantry sprue is much more difficult.  Even if we mastered digital sculpting, mould making is the next hurdle that we must conquer.

Making pewter figures is a sure way to refine our digital sculpting skills.  We can continue to refine the pose of each figure we did for each batch we produced until we are satisfied with them.  At the same time, we will continue to make plastic figure sprues for our vehicles in order to explore various mould making techniques to create the "perfect" infantry sprue.

Adding more plastic projects to the mould making queue will not help us learn and strengthen our knowledge and portfolio.  2018 is the year for us to consolidate and build a more solid base for what is to come... Yes, we are very ambitious!  Just wait and see... ;)

BTW, we have three design teams now!  A solid experienced team for plastic vehicles design, another expanded team for digital sculpting team, and an OEM team for other projects.  New product lines and expansions will not affect what we are currently doing!

I wonder if they also want to get some out there before investing in plastic moulds.

White Dragon models https://whitedragonminiatures.co.uk (https://whitedragonminiatures.co.uk) and Anvil Industries https://anvilindustry.co.uk (https://anvilindustry.co.uk) both do their figures in resin (and will be at Salute).

With our logistic improving and having a local warehouse, we will be able to release new products on a monthly basis and not quarterly... hopefully!  Hahaha!

I'll probably get most of the plastic sets except the BMW riders, with multiples of the tank crews - provided the facial detail is better defined.  And the plastic Jeep trailer.  I'll pass on the large scale figures and the resin tanks.

Is 284015 Soviet tank riders or Soviet tank crew? The illustration is of crew and 284005 shows metal tank riders.

One of those Citroens turned up in a Belgian television series available on iPlayer. Must remember to get one.

Damn "copy & paste"... 284015 should be plastic Soviet Tank Crew.  The Tank Riders are metal.

I'm certainly interested in the Brit/commenwealth tank/vehicle crews & the Waffentrager is too fun a glass hammer not to pick up (plus a couple of the Traction Avant's).
Are there likely to be any for sale at Salute?

It's a shame the tank riders are metal, when the tank crew is plastic, although they look like nice sculpts I've found metal really doesn't work for tank riders (for wargaming purposes - if you want them removeable).

Definitely will be a few bits I'll be getting though. What's the chance the US TD crew would work with the Warlord plastic M18 Hellcat?

I assume the plastic Rommel is the same as the one in the command halftrack expansion?

In reality, it is quite difficult to sell enough to make our tank riders to be plastic, so we compromise with better sculpts with more details.

What's the chance the US TD crew would work with the Warlord plastic M18 Hellcat?

Never try that out ourselves. Should work as our TD crew is designed to get fitted into very cramped spaces.

I assume the plastic Rommel is the same as the one in the command halftrack expansion?

Yes, it is the same sculpt with an extra radio operator.  Many people asking for a standalone version.

Cool thanks, hopefully the TD crew will fit then - are they going to be available at Salute?

Ah okay, just had a vague recollection that there was a France era Rommel you'd been working on. Haven't built Greif yet and had been pondering how best to make Rommel removable/useable separately, guess it'll be easier just to get a second one for dismounted use  :P

I'm very happy to see the US Seated Infantry, that give me hope that someday there might be seated Commonwealth Infantry for NWE!

My Canadian transports have all very empty looking for a long time now.
