By the way, what period are the uniforms?
My two cents: the German infantry are in early war uniforms. Probably suitable for 1939-1941 ish. They look like they are wearing the M36/M40 Tunic (only difference was fabric colors for collars and shoulder straps) or the M41 tunic (which went from 5 buttons to 6). But those pockets appear to be pleated, and that was phased out in the M42 tunic.
Yes, those appear to be Jackboots, which were issued to combat troops through 1941. They were slowly replaced with ankle boots and gaiters starting in 1941 for new units. But existing units kept their old boots until they wore out. And production didn't completely stop until 1943. So the boots alone are not enough of an indicator for the period of the uniforms.
I will be interested to hear what Rubicon have to say!
