Work In Progress / Re: Willys MB - The Jeep - TS1 Plastic 161109
« on: November 09, 2016, 05:43:27 pm »
It looks as though you've greatly improved the detail on the .50 cal, and made it a bit overscale.  Is that right?

For weapons that are manned by infantry will be slightly overscaled and reinforced so that they will not be too flimsy.
For vehicle mounted weapon without a crew, we will include two versions of the same weapon whenever is possible.
This first appeared on our M4 T23 turret sprue...

I mentioned it before, but the canopy isn't quite right.  It overhangs the windscreen far too much, and the windscreen
shouldn't be vertical.  It wasn't level on top either - the forward section slowed down to towards the windscreen.

We are currently working on TS1/TS2 sprues, many design issues still needed to be addressed.  Sometimes it is
the mould release angle that has affected our original design; hence every part had to be examined and refined.
In some cases, one single design change will affect several other parts that are linked to that single amendment,
which will further delay commercial release.  We usually will try to get a balance between perfection and reality.

Work In Progress / Re: Digital Sculpts - Semyon Timoshenko 161107
« on: November 08, 2016, 12:06:30 pm »
Semyon Konstantinovich Timoshenko, Marshal of the Soviet Union.

Timoshenko was a competent but traditionalist military commander who nonetheless saw the urgent need to modernise the Red Army if, as expected, it was to fight a war against Nazi Germany. Overcoming the opposition of other more conservative leaders, he undertook the mechanisation of the Red Army and the production of more tanks. He also reintroduced much of the traditional harsh discipline of the Tsarist Russian Army.

Great selection of books - maybe you won't need to rely so much on Wikipedia!

Wikipedia is great for IP related contents.  Don't want getting into that mess, lol.

when you make master models you need loads of info

Many of those are "used" books that had been out of circulation... the book itself is not expensive, but the freight charges are multiple times the book value!  :-[

On the topic of Sherman production cost, I come across this...

Quote
During the production life of the Sherman, the US government spend almost $250 billion on building Sherman tanks, and the contracted price for each tank depended on the variant, the supplier and the date.

The problem became sufficiently serious that in May 1943 the US Bureau of the Budget raised fundamental questions regarding the discrepancies between the various plants.  For example, although the average 1945 price paid by the US government was $49,793, against a projected cost of $42,400, tanks produced by the Detroit Tank Arsenal consistently came in at well below this figure... indeed, in September 1943 Chrysler told the US government it would reduce the price of various tanks being constructed after the end of June 1944 by almost $11 million due to economics and efficiencies.

At the other end of the scale, construction of the Sherman at the Fisher Tank Arsenal in 1942 alone saw General Motors invoice the US government for $256,918,000 and the company was subsequently forced to reconsider its unit price of $67,173.  Federal Machine & Welder received a whopping $70,000 for each M4A2 that they constructed.  Both GM and Federal Machine & Welder were working on fixed-price contracts that, in practice, turned out to be little more than estimates.

Would like one for the price of a luxury mid-size car today ;)

Work In Progress / Re: SdKfz 222/223/260/261 - New Options Added 161030
« on: October 30, 2016, 01:57:56 pm »
Additional new stowage and headlight option added to the 3D drawings.
Also added the SdKfz 260/261 to the project.

The key difference for the SdKfz 260/261 compared to the SdKfz 222/223
is the lack of weapons on the vehicle.  Other features include a different
design on the left hull side stowage box (on some units) and the addition
of a frontal stowage bin.  It also featured a retractable "bedframe" antenna
which had been faithfully recreated.

Enjoy!

It is always a delight to receive courier packages from your favorite online bookstore!
Think these readings will last until Christmas!  This is only about one-tenth of our
current library collection...

NOTE: Please don't interpret that we are doing all these topics, many of these are
reference material for future use, and some are for other OEM projects
that we are doing for other clients.

Thanks Steve!  Just by coincidence, we have just placed a big order
of reference material online regarding Allies Armoured Vehicles.  Will
be good reading for the Christmas holiday.  May be we can start a
new project on the subject early next year!
