New project for the month of September - Krupp Protze Kfz 70 standard personnel carrier and Kfz 69 motorised limber.
The German gets a new early-war vehicle (produced between 1934 to 1941) after our two projects on the British 30cwt truck & the American M3A1 scout car!

Some Background History:

Zimmerit was applied to some tanks produced from December 1943 to 9 September 1944.  Application of Zimmerit was usually done at the factory.  In general, vehicles already in service were not coated with Zimmerit.  Zimmerit was discontinued from factory application on 9 September 1944 and from field application on 7 October 1944.  This was due to concerns that projectile impacts could ignite it.  These proved false, but the order was never rescinded.  Applying and drying the paste added days to the production of each vehicle, which was unacceptable as there was a shortage of tanks.  Only early models of Tiger II have Zimmerit applied; not much info on other tank models.

Question: Do you want to see some German tanks with Zimmerit?

Issues: There are at least over 10 different patterns for different tanks... which one to choose?

General Discussions / Official Launch of our EU/UK Webstore - Now LIVE! 180730

Rubicon Models is delighted to announce the launching of our EU/UK webstore effective July 30. The webstore offers an alternative choice for customers who had difficulty accessing our products through normal channels.

What is more important, all our current resin and pewter items are “Direct Sales Only” (DSO) and is only available through our own webstores because of the limited production nature of these products.

We hope the EU/UK webstore (www.rubiconmodels.co.uk) together with our current US webstore (www.rubiconmodelsusa.com) will serve our customers in a satisfactory manner. Furthermore, we are looking into bringing another webstore for our DSO items into the Asia Pacific region sometime next year as well.

This diorama "Crossing the Rubicon", created by our in-house artist, Rico Chai, is based on a waterline LVT(A)-2 model from our upcoming LVT range of plastic kits.  The stowage and crew will be available as blister packs when the LVTs are released later this year.

Airfix holds a unique appeal for me and has been an important part of my childhood. The May 2018 (Issue 90) of Airfix Model World featured Steve Perry "Best-in-Show" from the South Cheshire show. The magazine wrote, "...what could be achieved from wargaming kits, using Rubicon's 1/56 vehicles and figures to recreate a North African scene of Erwin Rommel and his Afrika Korps preparing for battle".

Three years of teamwork had propelled and established Rubicon Models into the 1/56 scale wargaming and military modelling market worldwide. We even find our way into the hard-to-penetrate Japanese market a year ago! We are still young and eager to do better for years to come...
