i looked into my copy of The Panzerkampfwagen IV Book 2 from Schiffer by Spielberger, Doyle and Jenz.
On pages 143 and 144 you see the interior of the turret how the Sehklappe (vision ports) are mounted with 3 bolts on the left and four on the right, 2 top, 2 bottom..
But in Spielberger's earlier book, Panzer IV and its variants, on page 37 there is an overhead view of a Ausf. E turret with 3 bolts over both vision port covers.

I saw it more as an initial platform for the many vehicles based upon the Panzer 38T.
First the 38T, then the Sd Kfz 139 Marder III, next the sd kfz 140/1 aufklärungspanzer 38(t).
With a sprue with a new super structure to make the Sd Kfz 140 Aus L.  Flakpanzer 38T with Flak 38.
How about a Sd Kfz 138 Grille?
So one Panzer 38t hull/track sprue and a variety of others by adding a unique upper super structure sprue.

Oh my!
When may I get these?
An 88 on a Pzkw IV chassis would be a nice one off, cool objective but a Flakpanzer Wirbelwind, what a dream come true.
It looks to be a fantastic kit.
I don't want to wait until 2019.  I hope it's available soon.
SOON!

I appreciate the heads up about installing the hull nose before attaching the track assemblies.

Oh! That is smart.

I would expect it will be an  Italeri down scaled 88.  Their 88 is also sold by Tamiya.
I am looking forward to all of these.
Will I have enough time and money for everything?

Work In Progress / Re: SdKfz 173 Jagdpanther - TS1 Plastic 180121

It's a bonus gun barrel for the existing Panther kits.

I see the spare track issue.  I'll fix it with a saw if it comes out of the box that way.

I don't want to wait anymore.
Everything looks fantastic.

I find it interesting that the anti-tank gun crews are not identical.

Wish Lists / Jeep upgrade kits

Jeep upgrade kits for extra armor, the bazooka option, wire spools, stretchers, follow me signs, trailer, 106mm recoil-less rifle, etc.
And of course the Rat Patrol figure set.

You know, the White Scout Car shares the same front end as the M3 halftrack.
So the design work is half done.

I saw those pictures of the 88 on a Pzkw IV in Panzerwrecks.  I'd have to page through them to tell you which one.
It would be a fun kit to have.

Showcase & Gallery / Re: Showcasing my work - models used for gaming.

Too clean? Imho no.  They look great.
Some weathering of models I have seen are too much on vehicles that didn't survive long in combat.
For example: James Wappel's "King of the Jungle" Tiger II.  It does look fantastic, however; King Tigers only lasted for a short time before being lost in combat or more often, abandoned and sabotaged by the crew.  It looks great but the weathering imho is too much.

The above vehicles look great, would be welcomed on anyone's gaming table and shows cases how well they can be done.

Wish Lists / Re: Modified hulls and other "small" variations

To model a DD M4 Sherman with screen deployed  would only be for display since the vehicle would be mostly beneath the waves.  However there are many photos of DD Shermans still carrying their screens after D-Day operating miles from  any beach.  They were also used in southern France landings and some river crossings.
So a kit that would have collapsed screens that could be fitted to an M4 Sherman with the propellers as attachments to the hull is possible.

As for Berg Panzers and common parts, at this scale a jack is a jack, would there be that much noticeable difference between a Pz IV or Panther one?  Tank bars, wrenches, tool boxes, jack handles to me appear to be pretty much the same.
The spade could be made large and able to be assembled smaller for the 38t BP or in piece components.
Well, maybe scratch that.  I looked at the tamiya Famo accessory kit and the Jenz book  at the Berg Panther spade and they are vastly different.
A Panther accessory kit could include the mantel to make a Panzerbeobachtungswagen Panther, the spade and parts to make a Berg Panther,  a FlakPanzer V Coelion , 2cm Vierling Flak Panzer or other variants.

Then along the Flak Panzer vein a kit to make the Panzer Kampfwagen IV Flak Panzer variants:  The Mobelwagen, the Wirbelwind, the Ostwind and the Flak Panzer IV Kugelblitz.
