This is probably the last of the German wheeled vehicle we will be doing for a while... need to do some Allies ones!

Love it!

Nice. How about one swimming?

Nice. How about one swimming?
Possibly in resin?

Very nice.

Nice. How about one swimming?
Just take a belt sander to the bottom of it ;)

A Kübelwagen and a Schwimmwagen... it almost feels like Christmas! :)
Not sure if both of them will be released before Christmas though.
Thanks Rubicon. I can't wait to see both of these plastic kits released. I can finally replace my metal and my resin/metal Kubels and Schwims, which will then become battle decorations and/or nice small dioramas (victory objectives).

I agree. We can use some more Allied vehicles. However, does the SdKfz 10 count as a wheeled vehicle?
Hint, hint. ;)
Nice. How about one swimming?
It would be pretty easy to make one swimming yourself from the original kit, so if it were me, I would put a low priority on that project.
Just take a belt sander to the bottom of it ;)
A bit of an overkill, but that will work! ;D

I've gone off the idea of a swimmer. Not practical for a wargame table without cutting the occupants in half!
-
I'm all for more plastic military vehicles of any type in 1/56 . Yea as a game piece it's crap , but as a model for an objective or a small diorama piece I think it's awesome . I guess this will be the next Haynes on my book order list

This should cover both the Schwimm and Kubi

Very nice!
Can't wait to get these.
Sadly, I'm still waiting for my order of three kubelwagens model kits to arrive. :(
Soon it will be even harder to order Rubicon Models kits, but we'll see.
-
This looks lovely - quite an improvement on the Kubelwagen.
-
Oh my. This is needed for my reconnaissance company.
-
I have absolutely no use for it, but I suspect I will get one.
-
What a little beauty :)

As our Q2/19 new releases getting closer to their release date, work on our ongoing projects continue!
Just received our first testshot for the Schwimmwagen, will do a sprue inspection and a test assembly report right away!

Nice.
No idea what I am going to do with one. Not that that ever stops me....
-
The recon company will need a bunch of these. This was a preferred vehicle given its versability.
-
First the Kübel, and now the Schwimm. Fantastic!
Miniature gamers are getting a good selection of German vehicles in plastic including a good selection of soft skins - small to large transports.

I am not sure it would have any advantage over a kubelwagen in North Africa ^__^.

Schwimmwagens will float instead of sink into the desert quicksand ;)

Good point.

Schwimmwagen TS1 plastic assembled and primed. Minor features needed to be updated and fixed, but is quite satisfied with the results.

Very nice.

Excellent. Such a brilliant looking little vehicle. I had the Tamiya one about 40 years ago ;D
I’d love to add one to my DAK collection, but am hard pressed to imagine why you’d need an amphibious car in the desert... :(
-
The Schwimmwagon did serve in Africa. It's quite possible the quartermaster filled out the required paperwork (in triplicate) for more VWs to use for scouting purposes, and both Kubelwagons and Schwimmwagons arrived.
-
Excellent. Thanks :)

Are you saying they did, or they could have? I've never seen any evidence of it.
-
Lots of photos out there of Schwimms on sandy ground , surrounded by palm type trees , and even driven by a bunch of Yanks but the captions don't really state weather it's southern Italy ,Sicily or North Africa . And a lot of the model companies give you Afrika Korps decals in their Schwimm kits but none of the pictures I've found show the vehicle markings clear enough to be sure . It would fit in the 1942/43 time frame of the Germans in North Africa , but I've found no concrete evidence as yet that it was there . But who's to say there weren't a few in service in Africa , Rommel had a few weird vehicles in his army ( Bison II , Bison III { one of a kind IRC } ,Land-Wasser-Schlepper & Diana ), so maybe a couple might show up

You may find more info here : http://www.deutsches-afrika-korps.de/
They have some pictures of Schwimms that made it to Africa. And a lot more interesting stuff.

Wow , very interesting site . Thanks
