Just a heads-up, don't know if it will impact any of your plans, but Italeri has released their 2015 preview catalogue.

http://www.italeri.com/imgup/italeri_preview_2015(1).pdf

In 1:56 scale they will release the following:
15755 Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I
15756 Sd. Kfz. 142/1 Stug III
15757 Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. J/K/L/M/N
15758 M36/M10
15759 M8/M20

which means Warlord Games will also be releasing them.

Cool.  Does the kit come with the spare wheel that was in the design drawings?  And MG42's?

YES!

BRILLIANT!

Found this link to a list of trailers:

Apparently Sonderanhänger 51 is the one that 20mm flak guns are mounted on, but it seems that it was a multi purpose trailer that you could also put that an ammo box on.

I tried to google "Hanomag trailer" and found this hilarious picture:

Seriously though, there seem to exist a lot of special ammo trailers for the various 20mm and 37mm guns, but there's also a more generic ammo trailer which could carry whatever you put into it. Sonderanhänger 51 apparently:

And then there's this one for carrying signals equipment (probably cables and tools).

Missed this earlier. I would buy two I think.

I don't know... I'm drawn toward the first one, but I'm no expert. Couldn't you make the gaps straight up front and back so the MG isn't at an angle? I mean, if you then put the tabs at 90 and 270 degrees on the turret you still get the same functionality.

We are also facing some production issues as part counts for a M5/M8 combo is over 100 pieces!  Need to figure out a solution... but that would be after the 3D prototype phase!

I guess I'd be asking how popular an M5/M8 kit really would be…

I'd buy at least three... not playing competitive games I think light armour is more fun than heavy stuff. At least one will be used as a recce or kangaroo version.

I would prefer without the ring, but it wouldn't prevent me from buying the kit. I would simply leave it off.

But if you can use the space on the sprue for something else I think you should do that instead and loose the ring.

Yeah, I agree.

Useful from Early 1942 through all battles of El Alamein and Tunisia. An excellent opponent for your Panzer III I think :-)

Yeah, I agree. Stowage can be a separate kit. The odd extra track length or Jerry can could be included if there's room left on the sprue.

If the hull is bigger you need more than a spare turret though.

Another one I thought of, there are a couple of pictures of Panzer IV's with T34 tracks welded to the hull as extra armour. Maybe they are multiple photos of the same vehicle.

Just in case you haven't filled the sprue yet  ;D
Of course, if you do a sprue for soviet vehicles as well one could pinch a couple of tracks from that one.
