Work In Progress / Re: SdKfz 222/223/260/261 - 3D Prototype 161111
« on: November 12, 2016, 03:00:06 am »
Hi, Ive been researching the 222 quite a biy as i am adding detail to a 1/6 Armortek model.

There are not that many clear period pix of wartime 222 from this ange and not that many that clearly show the tops of the screens.

The nearest i have found is on Jaque Littlefield's restored 222, and in this case the d sdhaped pieces look to be finer and are attached on both sides of the screen.
Having said that, i am always very wary of features on restored AFVs.

Please take a look at the excellent Panzer Tracts series, and in this case, the Leichter PanzerSpaehwagen book which covers all the series from 221 through to 261.
This book does not mention these d shaped parts on the screens at all.

I certainly think that at present they are too coarse and dont look right.

Cheers

General Discussions / Hetzer problem
« on: October 30, 2016, 09:15:20 am »
Hi all, i feel a bit embarrased to ask on here, but not much else i can do.
I had thought about buying another kit, but there is only one set of front sprockets, but 4 different rear idlers in the kit.

I built a Rubicon Hetzer about 3 months ago, but due to other builds have only just got around to painting.
Tonight, to my horror, i discovered that i had not fitted the outer part of the front sprockets of this Flampanzer version.
I no longer have the box and am now missing parts A01 & A04.

Ive added a photo of the part completed Hetzer to show the missing part. I only noticed when i was painting the tracks.

Is it possible to get just these 2 parts so that i can complete my model.

Cheers

Hi Rubicon, I have just got a third Opel Blitz to convert into a flak wagon. I was hoping to use a 37mm Flak 36 or flak 43.
The 20mm flak in all variants is available from a number of sources, but, unfortunately no seems to do a 37mm flak in 1/56 scale.

This might be a good place to start.

Panzer 1V ausf J ......PLEASE ;D ;D ;D

Have to agree with you there Ripley.
I am in desperate need for some 251 crews & Tank Commanders to complete all the models ive built so far.

Assuming the next German model is not a tank then i really hope it will be an SD.kfz. 7 multi kit so you can build either Prime mover or one of the flak wagons.

I am really wanting to get hold of a decent Panzer IV ausf J.
I am painting up a platoon of  panzer IV ausf H for a mate and i was tempted to get another to convert but i am very happy to wait if you are planning to do one.

I am suprised that no one has mentioned these yet.
These were a real workhorse and were used mainly as tow vehiles for A/T guns and light howitzers or as one of the Flak variants with a quad 20mm Flak43 or a single 37mm Flak36.

Fingers crossed.

I know there was some debate a long time ago about which Allied Tank Destroyers you would do, And since then we have the fabulous M10/M36 kits.
However, I now think it is wortwhile thinking about the M18 Hellcat again.

I am not wanting to build any more resin monsters, so will have to wait patiently for a shiny plastic version.

M16 MGMC would be fab.
Th Warlord version is a dog.
I have already built 2 of your M3 halftracks and they were a joy to build & paint.
