Work In Progress / Re: US 37mm M3 AT Gun - 3D Prototype 190614

Please be sure to also include a USMC crew... the M3 AT gun was used way longer in the Pacific by both the USMC and the US Army.

Might I suggest an armored cab mod kit for your SDKF 7 halftrack...

I magnetized my hull to allow me to swap out the upper hull parts to make the 251/1 or the 251/22... I can also make several other versions of the 251 as well.

I glued the gun mount to the upper hull and made the troops seats removable in this 251 model to allow room for the 7.5cm PaK 40 L/46 mount that hangs down from the upper hull when its in place. Here is the final result... crew and stuff can be placed in the back.

Showcase & Gallery / Sdkfz 251 Ausf D kit builds...
« on: May 12, 2019, 03:50:48 pm »
Been a busy night of building my Rubicon Sdkfz 251 Ds... I magnetized one of the hulls so I can field the 251 7, 8,10 and last but not least the 251/22. For now none of the upper and lower hulls are connected to make painting the interiors easier. I'll add the spare tire and other small details after the basic painting is done. The 28mm sPzB 41 gun for the Assault Engineer 251 is 3D printed (sized up to 1/56) from TigerAce 1945's excellent ultimate 251 set.

A small note: I sent him a small tip as appreciation for his work I used (via thingverse a while back). Please support these guys by doing so; especially if you use their stuff.

And now for the show...

Resin tank bodies and plastic tracks? would be the best of both worlds and easy on your factory workers....LOL

How about adding an armored cab conversion kit? That would complete the true options for this model line.

Gamer suggestion... make a mounting base of some kind that can hold all the figures in a bunch that fits on to the back of your T-34 engine deck so we can place them on the model to show mounted tank riders and then remove them when they dismount and become regular infantry models (using other models of course).

Nice set of light and medium AT guns for sure. I'll be getting them for my Germans when they come out.

How abut a little discussion on some heavy AT guns for down the road like the 88mm Pak 43/41?

And then there's the king daddy of them all... the 12.8 cm PaK 44 there were two versions made n limited numbers.

I don't know about the rest of you folks but I would most defiantly get this model in 1/56 if only to have it.

I voted the Hellcat. A nice mod for the model would be the 90mm M36 turret for the Hellcat; they made at least one.

Fantastic work> One little comment: your tracks... I'm a retired armored vehicle veteran and I can tell you for sure when in use a tanks tracks get polished down to the bare metal from contact with the ground and unless you are operating in wet/mud conditions they stayed surprisingly clean. In the sand they can get so polished they almost shine in the sun. I've even sat there in the field, looking at our vehicles tracks thinking to myself how back in the day I had modeled tank tracks so wrong... ???

I'd remove the tan from the tracks on your models; especially the Africa Corps ones. unless you are modeling mud (which is a different animal altogether). I'd paint your metal track darkened gun metal (add some black to it), or wash the gun metal coat with black then dry brash with gun metal again followed by a light dry brush high lite with silver.

Greetings. I play BA in 15mm and I was waiting for more 1/56 plastic models to get into the market before I did the 28mm dive.

I'm thinking Rubicon is the way to go.
