Welcome to our Jagdpanther project.
The original teaser was moved to "General Discussion". This will be a new topic on the Jagdpanther project.
This project is based on our existing Panthers (280014 & 280015) with further enhancements to the existing drawings. We have basically:
- added details to the front tracks
- provides additional rear exhaust options
We then add two Jagdpanther hulls to represent early, mid, and late production variants with three different gun shields and mantlets, also choice of muzzle brake as well.

Jaeger can spot 'em in the dark.

Nice.
Are the tow cables on the hull sides going to be separate items?
-
Are the tow cables on the hull sides going to be separate items?
Yes, they are separate parts and optional too! ;)
-
With every new kit you guys release , you guys up your game . From stowage pieces , to crew figures , to optional open / closed hatches , optional vehicle parts for different marks and now separate tow cables , well done

Excellent.

A cool project, I look forward to seeing it, the tow cables as seperate pieces are a nice touch (are they likely to be all plastic, or just the eyes & some wire/thread - the former provides ease of assembly, the latter more flexibility on placement).

We have not decided which to include, but we had both done! Really depends on if they will fit on the sprue(s)!
-
I love this AFV.
Many photos show one tow cable already hooked up to the towing eye.
I look forward to this kit.
It would make a great holiday gift.

A few thoughts:
1. Great to see the Jagdpanther coming. One of my favourite German vehicles - ever since I built the Matchbox one with the scenic base (which was big even in 1/76 scale!).
2. I feel that providing multiple exhausts is a bit unnecessary - especially for wargamers. Surely 3 variants is enough.
3. Since you're covering all the variants, how about the command version? These didn't have many differences, but many had a stowage box on the left side of the upper rear hull plate.
4. Late types seem to have had the gun cleaning tube repositioned along the top of the rear hull plate.

IRC the stowage box on the rear of the upper hull , moving the gun cleaning kit tube to the rear and as well as moving the tools was the work of one unit in Normandy . I think traveling through the hedgerows they tended to loose and damage kit so their work shop moved stuff . It wasn't by any means just a command tank variation . At this stage of the war command vehicles got the Star antenna pot on the rear deck and some stowage tubes for the it. Anything else like the bed frame antenna and lots of stowage boxes made you stand out as a special vehicle , ie: first to be knocked out by opposing forces
-
Ripley - I don't think it was just one unit that repositioned the tube - it shows up in photos of post-Normandy vehicles (like the 3rd one in my post, which is clearly a late production vehicle). This was also done with a lot of Panther Gs. The stowage box also appears in at least one photo of a late production vehicle. I did notice that a lot of vehicles have the side tool racks removed, and have a very plain appearance as a result.
-
2. I feel that providing multiple exhausts is a bit unnecessary - especially for wargamers. Surely 3 variants is enough.
It will really depend on sprue space. We have many "large" parts on this kit!
3. Since you're covering all the variants, how about the command version? These didn't have many differences, but many had a stowage box on the left side of the upper rear hull plate.
We have one shown on the early variant...
4. Late types seem to have had the gun cleaning tube repositioned along the top of the rear hull plate.
Probably not doing it as it can be easily repositioned by the modeller during kit bashing. Otherwise, where is the fun from a straight built? ;)
-
The tube move to the rear became a production feature , the upper hull box was just that one unit ( about 40 JPs )
-
I did some more research. Gander's Tanks in Detail, Doyle and Jentz's Panther Variants and Spielberger.
1. The stowage box was an early production feature on all vehicles, not a unit modification.
2. The Befelspanzer version only had an extra antenna pot on the left rear hull wall.
3. The early production version didn't have the Nahverteidigungswaffe on the hull roof. Perhaps this should be optional on the kit.
4. The driver's left periscope was eliminated during production, as were the pistol ports in the hull sides. Apparently the jack was relocated to the vertical position between the exhausts as well, but I can't find any photos of the initial configuration.
-
Jentz & Doyle's latest Panzer Tracks Jadgpanther says the box was a sPzAbt 654 unit modifcation , not the 1st time in the last 30 ( ? ) years they have corrected themselves . There seems to be new info coming out every year for German stuff , every month it seems for Russian WW2 stuff ::). JP production : Dec 43 - 1 , Jan / Dec 44 - 226 , Jan / May 45 - 198 . Second driver's periscope plugged than removed from production in Feb 44 ( so how many built with 2 , and how many have plug visible before redesigned for one ? )Pistol ports removed as well ( don't think I've ever seen any JP with ports , early Panther D , yes ) The jack was moved from lower rear hull ,like on Panther D to vertical between exhaust pipes when tow lug was added mid lower rear . Sorry can't find any photos of 1st jack stowage on JPs

Been so busy with preparing the supporting material for our next batch of releases, almost everything is ready...
Had a quick snapshot of the Jagdpanther prototype while running through the studio today! Will post the full batch of photos soon!

Two variants of the Jagdpanther prototypes being shown here...
The final kit should enable you to build early / mid / late variants of your choice!

They look good.
-
Very nice indeed & yes I can :)
-
I want 5 kits.
They look to be fun to build.
-
I will probably end up getting just one as i very much doubt id ever play more than 1 in any game.
However, since when has that stopped me....
-
Any update on possible release date for the JP?
I see that Q4 has been announced, so maybe drop the JP into the Q1/18 release.
Cheers
Tim

It is still in the mould making queue. Don't think it will make it to Q1/18 releases... :(
-
OK, Thanks for the info.
I am sure Q4 and Q1 will have other tempting items.
-
But I don't want to wait...I want a Jagdpanther now.

I'm with Jaeger on this one. "I want a Jagdpanther now."
;)

.... and i was trying to be polite :'(

I volunteer to build an early released kit in order to confirm the immense enjoyment someone would have in building this kit.
I would properly rinse the sprues to remove any hint of mold release residue. I would use my sharpest cutting tools to gently remove the components from the sprues. I expect no mold lines would need to be scrapped given the quality. I would use the freshest adhesive. In following the clearly printed instructions I know complete assembly of the kit would proceed at an appropriate pace.
Multiple light coats of primer. Then diligent application of the right colors for the theater of the war I game and then weathering followed by several coats of matte finish.
IT would be my honor to do this this year.
-
A small update on this project. Have not done so since September last year...

TS1 plastic sprues for the Jagdpanther... a whopping FOUR spure kit!
We have also included upgrade options to enhance our existing Panther kits too!

The cable choice is excellent.
Will it make Salute this year?

Looks great. Do these tracks fit the Panther kits?

Looks great. Do these tracks fit the Panther kits?
That was part of the design when we started the Jagdpanther project. Most parts on the first sprue will fit on our existing Panther kits. ;)
-
Looks like another fantastic kit . Really like the choice for the tow cables , funny how something so simple and small can really make an impression . You guys keep pushing the envelope on awesomeness

I don't want to wait anymore.
Everything looks fantastic.

Think everyone is looking forward to seeing the test assemblies of the TS1 sprue...
There are no weekends at the studio!

Excellent.
-
Does it have both kinds of wooden block for the jack?
The model looks really good. Shaping up to be another winner.
-
Just noticed the lower row of side mounted spare track links ( on both sides ) are molded as one long piece , no breaks to make it three separate links . The top row is OK though . Sorry tried to copy your picture to hi light the problem , but it won't let me ( or I'm doing it wrong ...again ::) )
-
This is shaping up to be a very impressive kit! Shame that it isn't possible to have the improved tracks etc on a common sprue with the Panther.
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm curious as to the purpose of the additional barrel for the Panther...? Is it to model a different variant or mark?
-
It's a bonus gun barrel for the existing Panther kits.
I see the spare track issue. I'll fix it with a saw if it comes out of the box that way.
-

The Panther is a relatively early kit, and has a few (mostly minor) issues. It's gun barrel is kind of weedy, and isn't properly round. This one looks more robust and much better moulded.

I see what you mean.
Also the holes in the track shoes are not consistent between the two rows. It is most obvious in the photograph above on the right hand pair.
-
This is TS1, so expected a lot of goofed up stuff to happen. We are already compiling a list of fixes. this is why we called them TS1, TS2, TS3... ;)
-
We knew you'ld have it under control

Our upcoming Jagdpanther is really great looking after getting painted up for studio review
This is a FOUR-sprue plastic kit with multiple build options so that you can customize each one you fielded on the tabletop!

Very nice.
-
Impressive!
Is it correct that the first model is a painted prototype, while the second is a final version? Because the issue Ripley raised with the spare tracks is still visible on the first one; it's not clear on the second one.
This kit would definitely benefit from a set of resin tracks...

There appears to be no breaks in the lower set of spare tracks on either of them.

The spare track links were not fixed yet... "they were minor!" as quoted from the factory :(

Wonderful painting 8)

Just a heads up Rubicon . On your display models , you've put the ball mount MG in wrong , the barrel is set towards the left side of the mount while on the right side is the sight hole when facing the front plate .
(https://s33.postimg.cc/48ot84eob/Jagdpanzer_5_Ku_10-1.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/48ot84eob/)
Easy enough to do , done it myself , just thought you might want to make sure the kit instructions show the right way to install it
-
I love it. I can't wait to grab a pair!
-
It looks great!
I have just one thought.
Could you consider in your future projects additional crew figure not in true scale but in ordinary heroic 28mm?
You know, with big head and hands?
Lots of people are playing Bolt Action game and true scale in this horde looks ... weird.
-
Most of the BA / Italeri tanks have crew of various sizes to start with , and a lot of the hatches wouldn't fit a heroic type figure with out a lot of cutting the hatch larger . Here's 4 BA / Italeri German commanders - left to right . Panzer III , Panzer IV , Tiger I , Tiger II .
(https://s33.postimg.cc/xlz1tvje3/IMG_20180701_095959657.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/xlz1tvje3/)
The Russian figures are just as mixed in size , ( I have the plastic T-34 /76 & 85 as well as the KV and JS II ) . And the Brit commander in the plastic Churchill kit looks more 1/64 scale than 1/56 . IMO its better to have scale figure with scale vehicles . Although I have made some of my own vehicle crews from BA figure sprues . Also Tamiya 1/48 work well as tank crews in the hatch , if standing on tank they are too tall and need a few mm cut out about knee height

Coming quarter Q4/18... before Christmas! ;)

Do you know the upcoming Jagdpanther plastic kit comes with MULTIPLE rear exhaust options so that you can customise your heavy tank destroyer on the tabletop... all on a single sprue! You can also make good use of the unused exhausts and other parts on our two Panther kits with minimal conversion skills!

Enjoy!

I'm looking forward to this kit and many others.
