Work In Progress / Re: GAZ-AAA 6x4 2t Truck - 3D Drawings 170308

I understand where you are coming from Pinky. Selfishly I can see this truck trundling across Poland in September 1939 and therefore it gets a tick from me.

My concern would be the heavy emphasis on crew sitting on tanks. Personally I think if you are sitting on a lot of expensive armour where bullets and shrapnel is flying around you probably deserve what you get (open topped vehicles excepted where they need observable crew). Personally I'd prefer to see the vehicles of all nationalities get priority as there are many competent figure manufacturers out there already. However I realise Rubicon understands its market better than me.

Looks good. I hope this is the sales success it deserves to be.

My thoughts are an expansion kit with all the bits and pieces for different variants might not be profitable in its own right but would create extra sales of the base kit to make up for that.

I'd like consideration to be given to including these items in an expansion kit. There appears to be a lot of items that could supplement a basic Panzer IV kit.

- raised louvers (DAK) variant
- Pz Bef Wg/Pz Beob Wg
- Tauchpanzer IV
- components to create earlier Pz IV's  :)
- Pz IV spare wheels, tracks etc

I could include the Bruckenleger IV but think that involves too much plastic! Each expansion kit sold would mean at least one base kit sold as well, possibly more.

185
If they were available I'd buy one of each too. From A onwards! After all, they all served.

186
Ok. No hurry. I thought stowage kits would be fairly generic whereas an expansion could include spares for the tank in question (tracks & wheels often carried but not often for a different vehicle).

187
Well thanks for considering it Rubicon.

I think there are quite a few things that could go on an expansion. Even spare lengths of tracks and/or wheels could be added to a number of other Panzer IV specific items in an expansion kit.

Looks good. Unfortunately I can't attack Poland with it in September 1939. I wonder whether it would be possible to modify it via an expansion kit to make an Ausf C. I think 3 small pieces would correct the turret (new mantlet and side access hatches). The hull machine gun would need to be removed and replaced with a plate that is flat with the driver's. The real tanks were a centimetre different in width (nothing in 1/56 scale).

Brings me to the wider question whether even more vehicles could be made via an expansion kit. Perhaps command/observation tanks or perhaps parts to make a submersible for river crossing. Perhaps metal parts could help here.

Wish Lists / Re: Scammel Tank Transporter and Matilda
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:38:12 am »
An interesting choice.

For me it highlights the difficulty Rubicon must have. The Matilda I completely support (I wouldn't mind seeing the earlier A11 Matilda as well). The Scammel also looks like it would make a terrific model. However I think Rubicon must wonder at the size of the market for it. If this scale is to support 28mm models in the wargaming community I don't think tank transporters of any type are going to find much use. I don't want to discourage any particular kit from appearing but feel Rubicon should prioritise vehicles, in all their variations, that appeared in the front line.

Agreed. Much better to show us what you want to do and get some feedback before actually producing the product. Wouldn't be too good to produce something and get criticised after the event. I hope we don't get so annoying you give up on asking for the feedback!

Wish Lists / Re: Anti-tank guns - what next?
« on: February 17, 2017, 09:17:17 am »
I didn't mean to exclude from any priority list weapons used in a direct fire mode (the 88 being a classic example) or for that matter light mortars. I just feel weapons like artillery should be a long way from the front line unless they are being over run. I realise not all rule sets agree with this view.

Personally I'd prefer Rubicon concentrate on the vehicles.

I might add if you can make the parts to convert a Panzer IV into an Ausf C I won't mind what they are made of!

I agree field guns shouldn't be high on the priority list. Generally wargaming at this scale should prioritise direct fire weapons in my view.

No complaints from me. I like to see what is in the pipeline. As a 1939 vehicle this one will be on my shopping list.
