It won't be any surprise that I'd like to see a Panzer III that served in Poland. The Ausf E is the obvious contender although if you wanted to game the Norwegian campaign you'd probably like an Ausf D. It would certainly create confusion for those who identify Panzer III's by the number of road wheels!

I think I was divining the tea leaves Pinky, or perhaps wishful thinking!

At least we know it's plastic which will keep my interest at a higher level than it would have been if it was resin. The more variants the better, including twin turrets.

Perhaps an optional set of barrels is the way to go. I wouldn't like to see such a nice model messed up with very obviously oversize barrels. I don't know whether there are any other solutions to minimising damage (apart from leaving it in a glass case!).

I note Pinky's question elsewhere. Resin or plastic? Hope the answer is plastic.

I like it. The chances of an early Russian army in my future is getting stronger and stronger.

Looks good. Probably worth looking into the possibility of other civilian vehicles. Particularly when they had at least some use by the armies of the combatants.

I guess I'm not as adamant as you Pinky and prepared to give resin a chance. However I share your misgivings. I think underlying my thoughts are any hopes of these tanks being produced in plastic are now further away, if ever. Funny, when it comes to the figures I'm not a fan of plastic at all and far prefer metal.

It will be interesting to see how this goes. I have a Warlord Renault R35 which is okay for the wargame table. Will Rubicon compete on quality or price (or both). I don't have a Neucraft kit to know whether it is better than the Warlord one. I am confident a Rubicon plastic R35 would have been better. The Warlord R35 was bought when there was a discount and posted free by placing an order over 50 pounds, so competing on price isn't easy. Perhaps someone has a Neucraft R35 and a Warlord one and can give a quick overview on how they compare.

Nonetheless I wish Rubicon well because if the ex Neucraft models are a success we might see more resin vehicles and components that are unlikely to be made in plastic (in this scale anyway, all sorts of odd things appear in plastic in other scales).

The terrain on the 1970's diorama is excellent

I'm not sure what the implications are. Does this mean there is no hope of ever seeing the Renault tanks in plastic from Rubicon?

If the intention is to produce a range of 1/56 resin vehicles we would never see in plastic, because the sales figures wouldn't justify it, then I guess I'm happy although a little perplexed.

If it means we might see some resin components to modify Rubicon plastic models to less common variants then great.

If we are turning our minds to exotic ideas I'll suggest the Neubaufahrzeug. At least there were five built. Importantly they were even deployed by the army to Norway and possibly elsewhere. Of course in reality there are dozens of tanks that should come before it.

I guess there will always be an interest in the biggest, most powerful weapons and think that is part of the attraction with the Maus. However for me wargames that presuppose the war continued beyond 1945 are in the fantasy realm and isn't where my interest lies. Doesn't make those that enjoy the 'what ifs' wrong of course.

It's a fascinating vehicle but as a prototype that never reached the army I think it would be very low on my priority list.

I think this topic was well worthwhile. Aphillathehun had the question answered and we had fun with it.
