Drying?

Arent all the kits pre cleaned/washed?
Probably, but I always give them a quick scrub before I start on them.

I have to admit to not cleaning injection moulded plastics - though some modellers do.

The worst case I had was the original Lord of the Rings Fellowship metals, Frodo had a patch of oil or something that needed a serious going over with scourer, even spray paint slid off while wet.

Die Waffenkammer's resin was still a bit slippery even after a scrub with scourer, the area between the driver and gunner on the Comet was a bit resistant to paint.

First lot examined. http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/salute-2018-rubicon-models-part-one.html.
The waffentrager is drying so may be the first built.

In case anyone is interested, here is a scale comparison of one of the new British personality figures with a 28mm Crooked Dice figure (the ubiquitous William Killian).

Definitely a slighter build, a lot closer to the Perry proportions.

@CaptainBlood: the box is empty on my desk as I type and it is not in either of the two sets of French decals (DCFR001) that were in there.

I agree it is an amazing casting, it is drying after the customary wash.

@Ballardian: now you have pointed them out, I see what you mean about the gun mount.

So, has anyone thought about their colour scheme?

So far I have seen:

Yellow with and without camouflage.
Yellow hull, primer turret (with or without camouflaged barrel).
Primer (again with or without camouflaged barrel).
Grey/bare metal.
Green with camouflage.
UN white (!).

I got mine.

I have to remind myself that it is resin and not polystyrene/ABS.

Are there any instructions?

Not sure how the gun is mounted in the turret.

It was a lovely day in Docklands.

You seem to have kept yourself busy, nice conversions.

Sarissa Precision had a nice spaceport with monorail terminal, might be useful terrain for your rebels - Anvil were not doing their resin Regiments today, otherwise I would have had some non Star Wars rebels to face my storm troopers.

Well, now back home (arms aching).
Nice to meet you.

The forthcoming kits look great, hopefully I will have built the ones I bought today by then.

More once I have sorted stuff out.

The tread patterns and the shape of the tyres aren't correct.  The tyres were fatter, and had a diamond tread pattern which was quite distinctive.

We are aware a good portion of the LRDG tyres will the diamond tread pattern, but this pattern is basically not possible to mould with a standard injection mould.  The only alternative is the current design which is also found in historical photos.  One way to create the diamond tread pattern is the use of rubber injection tyres... a questionable alternative solution.  We are still looking into other ways to solve this technical issue.
Would it be possible to do a resin upgrade option for the tyres at a later date?

There are colour plates in German Leichte Panzer at War by De Sisto showing 7 or 8 Panzer Division in France with 38t in grey and brown.

Definitely going to need a bigger bag!

Going to need to look through my Perry 15-16th Century plastics for some low carbon steel armour ^__^.

The structures on the front mudguards look like tanks in the drawing but appear to be rolled up sand mats.

Yes, we are aware of it.  Those are a placeholder when we are doing the 3d drawings (with the correct size and measurement).  Once done, we will pass the file to our 3d sculptors to do the rolled up sand mats in details.
Cool, that explains it. Thanks.

Now, how about the heavy weapons option? That would please the Italian gamer/modellers ^__^.

If you are talking about a Breda 20mm AA Gun, that will be a separate project as we wanted all guns to be a standalone project.
I thought it would be, I do not want to be buying multiples of the Breda if I am building troop carriers ^__^. Much better use of the two two sprues for stowage.

Thanks.

Nice start.

I just looked at the photographs on Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Range_Desert_Group.

Pinky's comment about the can holder can be illustrated by the above photograph. I can see how the shape of the model was "seen" or it might be a variation.

Really looking forward to this one (or three).
