They look very nice.

Thanks for the heads up about the VVSS parts, I have three (one of each) of the New Rubicon Shermans awaiting building (and another original M4A3). Pinky's point about the transmission cover on the Hybrid is also useful to know (save your part D22 from the 76mm kits).

If it's  going to be a late war " 47 " type vehicle , how about borrowing the urban cammo used on the Berlin Chieftains ?

I did wonder about a Mondrian pattern (somewhere I have a 1/60 scale Brocken military Labor(sic)  armed with a 105mm MG42 in a Mondrian pattern camo).

I wondered about an Ambush camo with a grey and brown palette.

Here is the gunner tucked under the gun.

I cannot get the loader in place.

Nice models. Clean scheme on the Tiger is good. The whitewash on the T34 looks suitably worn.

Good point on the hellcat, does seem daft to have  half crew on an open topped turret. You could try sawing the legs etc off of some Warlord plastics or spare Rubicon Jeep crew.

We are looking for crew for our Waffentragers at the moment, but that has a tiny turret. Just thought, the Airborne Jeep crew might make a good gunner for the waffentrager.

Oh and please don't pay any attention to the water pot I use for painting, I've had it for a long time!  ::)
More pictures of the water pot!

Thanks! Ha, I'm afraid the Tesseract-power Panther is based on the HYDRA Panzer Divisions (circa 1945)... :P
That is not historical, as everyone knows Hydra used FV432s brought back through time from the British Army sell off ^___^.

Nice engine glow effect.

Interestingly enough Perry miniatures have just published some early work American infantry. Early uniform for Tunisia and Sicily. I can't see that they could not also be used as Normandy troops. As far as I know not everyone had updated uniforms at that time. Perry have a lot better to scale size of their miniatures. I personally liked their other ww2 plastic boxes. I am getting very frustrated with Warlord for their unhistorical weapon mix and size.
Sven
They had some "three ups" at Salute (for those pre-digital sculpting the physical masters are sculpted three times final size and the moulds are produced using a pantograph running over the surface, scaling down the size. There is a funny story about a company who sent the three ups for mould making and got the moulds back with 75mm size figures...).

It is a lovely looking kit (mine is here, awaiting assembly: http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/salute-2018-rubicon-models-part-one.html.

The only ones I have seen have been in films and television programmes, so I suspect they would not have been insured for a repaint. The last one was in an episode of the Belgian series"Salamander" (series one on iPlayer).

I am going for black with official plates.

@Ballardian: that might work, though you would probably need to build a turret basket of some kind. The gunner would then fit from below. The loader might fit from above if you fix the gun and have the loader with the round part in the breech. The U shaped piece (below the gun in the photograph).

Does occupy a lot of the space, fitting a commander in would be difficult.

I will try and put something together later and photograph it.

Thanks for the photographs. Is that a cable hanging off the back of the turret?

Okay I have found a review of the Panzer Tracts with the following information:
Quote
"8.8 cm Waffentraeger" actually covers 4 different vehicles.
...
"Steyr" covers a Steyr chassis with Krupp gun. Only a prototype was built. There are 7 photos and a 4 view plan.

The turreted one looks like it is on a different chassis (asymmetric glacis).

Acting Panzer implies it is based on the 38(t), the photograph matches.
http://www.achtungpanzer.com/entwicklung-series-standard-series.htm

The problem is that it has had the background removed so any sights above the turret may have been lost.

There is a small photograph on the Heer46 site for this model:
http://www.heer46shop.de/49367//krupp-waffentraeger--156
But there is a lot of background clutter above the turret. It looks like the original of the Trumpeter box art.

Any kit photographs of course could just be repeating earlier errors.

Nonsolopanzer has some of the Trumpeter instructions but not the turret ones, the assembled turret has no sight hole in the turret.https://nonsolopanzer.com/2015/11/14/krupp-steyr-waffentrager-mit-pak-43-135-trumpeter-kit-code-02347/

There is a photograph of the Trumpeter turret basket here:http://www.panzer-modell.de/berichte/krupp-steyr-wt/ks-wt.php
He also mentions Panzer Tracts Issue 7-3 which might have information (the site is in German and Google barely translates it).

Thank you. I guess that Halford is a spray can.
They are a UK car parts and bike retailer, they have an own brand range of spray paints.

I tend to use their acrylic sprays for resin buildings etc (bigger cheaper cans).

Games Workshop sprays for figures and vehicles, with PSC, GW or Army Painter for base coats when available.

The Bradford book has the gun shield type with a sight through the shield.

My thought is to put in traversing and elevation wheels and a sight.

The sight only needs to move vertically (unlike the casement mount tank destroyers). Not sure what would happen if you fired a broadside!

The top cover would give you appalling situational awareness.

You could use it like the lids on M36s.

Thanks.

I was extremely tempted by it, but it will have to wait until next time.
