Will you have a representative of Heer 46 with you at Birmingham (as you've had at other events), as it'd be nice to have the opportunity to pick up his Kugelblitz turret along with your Panzer IV (& Ausf F turret with your Panther G).

Here's the beginning of my Panther F, using your excellent Ausf G kit with Heer46's equally splendid Ausf F turret.
So far It's only received a dunkelgelb base, (thought I'd try panel modulation) but will eventually recieve a late pattern DB        ambush camo scheme.

Yes, any re-working of the Panther tracks would involve a significant investment in re-tooling of molds, so I certainly wouldn't be expecting them any time soon, since Rubicon have plenty of subjects to contend with before re-visiting any of the existing range (though I can see why the T23/Sherman 76 turret has priority).

I'm in agreement with Ripley, an upgrade set would probably be the better solution, not requiring a major re-working of the existing sprues. However, with regards to the existing sprues, a re-working of the tracks themselves would be nice at some point, to include the missing detail on the surface of the track plates.

As ultravanillasmurf said, I think they're sticking to WWII (plenty of subjects after all) - if you're after early cold war stuff, Force of Arms produce a very nice Centurion MkIII (resin/pewter) which I can wholeheartedly recommend & Blitzkrieg are in the process of starting a range of cold war armour (check their facebook page).
 Hope that's of some use.

In a slightly different vein, a set of steel resilient wheels for the Panther G kit would be nice, not only for very late war vehicles, but to go with the slew of Panther F turrets popping up at the moment (Heer46, Company B & JTFM).

Could there be an attachment point on the end of it for the portable flamethrower that the 251/16 also carried?

I believe the figure sculptor for this campaign is 'Brother Vinni' & he has done sculpts for others in the past.

Really pleased to see a plastic Blitz on the way, one that fits together without drama will be a pleasure.
Will the kit include window/windscreen pieces?

Hope you enjoy the event (& here's to you having a stand next time).
Suetonius Paullinus - Great Escape Games also carry Rubicon & will be at Salute, if you email them they'll do a cash on collection deal (though at the moment of writing they've only got the tanks, not the 251)

I'd also love a Challenger, unfortunately I don't think a combo kit with the Cromwell would be easy,  (or maybe even possible) as while Challengers were based on Cromwell chassis, they had to stretch them, adding another road wheel, (plus, I think widen it) in order to fit a turret big enough to fit a 17 pdr  in it.
This would probably require a separate kit as the stretched chassis wasn't utilised for anything else - a similar problem would present itself for the Churchill Black Prince.

Generally, the ariels that come with kits intended for gaming tend to be somewhat over thickness to compensate for handling, but even then can be quite fragile. Guitar (electric - preferably stainless steel) strings are a good solution to this, coming in more believable scale diameters & most music shops will sell singles, (I'd recommend an 11 gauge  - but thinner is fine) plus they have the benefit of being flexible so the tied-back ariel look is possible, hope this helps.

General Discussions / Turret attachment scale model vs. gamer approach
« on: December 07, 2014, 10:49:44 pm »
Firstly, have your Panther G & it's a great kit (my only wish is for a set of steel resilient wheels for the very late models) my question is to whether the standard 'bayonet' type method for attaching the turret to the hull is the best way to go for a gaming model.
Gamers, unlike scale modellers, tend to rotate the turrets on their vehicles - in fact most of the WWII game systems I've seen (Bolt Action, Secrets of the Third Reich etc) have turret rotation & armour facings as part of their mechanic - & herein lies the problem. The standard scale model type attachment tends towards the snug - particularly after some paint is applied. This can easily result in damage to your meticulously applied paintjob or even a turret that is impossible to rotate.
I would suggest that you consider the method by which resin vehicle manufacturers fit their turrets - an indent in the hull with a corresponding large diameter peg on the turret base - both of which could have a small recess suitable for a magnet (as present in 15mm Flames of War tanks - for subsequent releases.
Looking forward to more of your excellent kits, (particularly the 251 & Stuka Zu Fuss variants) keep up the good work!
