The KV series is rather important and the KV-2 has a lot of freakshow appeal.

The house opposite now have a resin T-70 which is a lovely looking little AFV that might be worth looking at for doing in plastic.

The T-26 is numerous and important but comes in a bewildering number of versions and would be risky.

One thing about guns (or heavy weapons) is that normally they do not come with anywhere near enough crew figures.

Sadly there is no place for heavier artillery on the table except as an objective or as terrain so we should be looking at smaller pieces;  A/T guns, infantry guns and the like.

I made most of the panzer III yesterday afternoon, I will not glue anything else together until it has been at least partially painted as having it in separate modules greatly simplifies the painting process. I started off with EMA plastic Weld and did not like it, it is a very strong solvent. The PloyWeld was much the same so I tried my old faithful Humbrol liquid cement that I have been using since childhood and it seems to do the job quite well, though I do not like the new safety bottles and decant it into one of the old square ones with a brush in the cap to use.

I will be giving the Panzer III a bath this evening prior to priming it so if anything is going to fall off that is when it will happen.

Assembly went well, it was a good kit to build which is just as well as there are another eight lined up behind it, the launch deal from Northstar was too good to pass up on.

That is good to know before I start. I had got as far as clipping some pieces off the spruces this afternoon before deciding that the plastic was rather greasy feeling and that a good wash was in order for it.

I have found a couple of dusty bottles in the glue box, EMA Plastic Weld and Five Star Adhesives  PolyWeld. Both claim to stick ABS plastic (among others). It is years since I used the EMA one and I remember not liking it though not why so I will see tomorrow how I get on with it.

What books would the list recommend? More specifically those on the development of the specific models produced by Rubicon and how to paint them.

Specifically I was aware that the T-34 came in a number of models before the T-34/85 arrived on the scene but not the details so the different versions possible with the box are slightly perplexing. I was surprised to find that I did not own the Osprey book on the T-34/76 but after a few minutes I had the Kindle version which has helped considerably, rubber rims it is, though something more detailed would be nice.

For German tanks I have Chamberlain and Doyle's Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two which is now rather old but is pretty good on the different models.

They would not just be useful for AFVs but for any vehicle and for set dressing terrain as well. If you are a player of Chain of Command or any other game that uses jump off point, objective or other markers then bits and pieces are great for making them as well.

A sprue of useful add-ons might be useful. Things like the all-important stowage and jerry cans. Whether as general pieces you can use with (almost) any AFV or more specific ones such as a tarpaulin covered bundle shaped to fit on the engine deck of an M4. The latter really sounds like something that might be better done in resin and if you told me that some of the aftermarket people already make such things for the Rubicon kits I would not be at all surprised.

I am afraid that the more I think about this the less convinced I am that it would be practical proposition but it still seems worth posting and letting others take a crack at it.

What we need are things that would sell in quantity, the T-34-76 is the best example of this. I would have expected that a T-34-85 would be next except for the existence of the plastic Warlord kit which reduces the potential market for them.

What I would like to see includes:
SU-122
SU-100
And I suppose the SU-85 to go with the T-34-85s.
All three are superficially very similar vehicles so I wonder if a single kit could accommodate all of them, aside from the different guns and mounts the arrangements on the casemate are different and there is the cupola on some.

T-70
SU-76

After that we are in the land of the heavies, KVs, ISs, ISUs and so on. No one needs a lot of KV-2s but it looks like it is only a different turret from the KV-1.

There are interesting pre and early war things as well such as the T-26 but are Spain and the Winter War sufficiently popular?

I have to admit whatever the Russian surprise is I am probably going to buy it.
