Looking really good .Putting Lots of detail in a very little space , fun huh ? I believe the canister above the radio should be a German gas mask case . All their tanks and armored cars  had them fitted in specific spots beside  the crew positions  till the end of the war . It makes it easy to identify most stuff inside WW2 German AFVs , as the holders were all the same in most vehicles , gas mask rack in Tiger , same size/shape in Panzer II & 222  Armored Car  for example . If you have room , there should be a canister , verticle in front by the gunner , it holds the  sight when not in use   .

I use a GW brown wash on the tank . and a GW black wash on the metal parts of the track , followed by a watered down brown wash

I think I would  go with Vellejo Model Air Olive Drab .043 , should be easyist paint to pick up these days . A few of those companies are gone now , well I guess that article did come out 16 years ago .  Funny , the chip shows Humbroll 155 as looking greenish , my tin is a more brown shade to my eye , but Humbrol has changed the formula / ingredients from time to time over the years .  Its funny how your eye works , find a reasonable shade of OD  or German Grey and paint a large scale ( 1/32 ) tank , looks great , use the same color on a 1/72 tank and it looks wrong , Don't quite understand why that happens , but lightening the color seems to work on smaller scales .

Interiors the easy part , Most Rubicon Halftracks / trucks have extra steering wheels . The Halftrack add on kit ( Stummel ) have single seats , All you need is a rear bench seat , interiors sorted  :)  Easier said than done I Know

I think a reasonable Jumbo could be made using the Rubicon turret as a starting point . Build up the sides with thin plastic and add curves and texture with green stuff . I did that to a BA T-34 Uralmash turret , the one supplied in the kit is way to narrow / small . But I had very good 4 view scale drawings and numerous pictures  of the turret and I had 3 turret shells from the BA Platoon box , so I had lots of wiggle room if I f#cked one up ( which I did  ::) ) . If you only have one turret to work with , and this kind of kit bashing is not in your comfort zone , you might just wreak the turret . Now if you have a few left over turrets from numerous Rubicon  kits , you have the means to hone your skills and make a go of it . Still going to need good  4 view scale drawings though or maybe have the Company B tank on hand as a visual reference . Green stuff would work well to bulk up the cast nose .  On the other hand Company B have this add on lit which they say fits " most " 1/56 scale Shermans . At $11 US it might be a easier way to get your self a Jumbo

And don't forget , they are just casting the car . They didn't design it  they just bought the molds . I believe ,it was a Neufield  kit like the French tanks  . We'll have to wait and see what they come up with from their own design team

Supposed to be the M43 pattern uniform , good for North Africa , Italy and was wore in Europe by some units till the end in 45 . Should be a nice set , 3 sprues of 12 figures ,( 3 kneeling , one prone per spue ), plus a command sprue of 4 figures . Do Perrys fit in with Rubicon's style of figures , I know Perrys  look odd with the BA heroics ?

I just read on the shadrack site  that both cast noses had 3 distinct versions of the bolt strip , exposed , semi recessed and full recessed , this Sherman tank stuff  gets complicated real fast if you do more than scratch the surface  .  ::)

I've always used Brown Violet as a Brit color , I've done both my Churchills in it and I did my Sherman in the Humbrol enamel which closely matches it  ( Matt 155) which Humbol  call Matt Olive Drab   ::) . I feel its much too brown for OD . Your best bet would be Model Color 889 US Olive Drab or 873 US Field Drab , which is a brown shade of OD  ( I've always thought it was a uniform color ) . The problem with any shade of OD ( and IRC there are about 5 used in WWII  ) is that if you do find your perfect shade , once you add a wash to your vehicle , your perfect shade  is gone . I usually do a few test strips of various paint and washes , ( Army Painter , GW & Vallejo ) to see how each wash changes each base paint . And plain old early war German Grey/Gray , however you spell it , is just the same PIA as OD . Go with what looks right for you , its your hobby , your kit , there is no one "right" color . Just look at all the variations in Panzer Yellow , OD & Russian Green tanks  on some of the large scale hobby sights by the  guys who get stuff published in magazines

Great book if you can find it for a good price , it's going for big bucks on e bay . Ampersand  ( David Doyle Books ) released Son Of Sherman a year or so ago , a much more up to date book. Supposed to be a volume two  out on how to build / convert & kit bash the Sherman model kits available today. Most Sherman fans would probably end up getting all 3 . There were only 4 types of tranny housing  ( 5 if you count Jumbo ) early bolted which had a notch on mg side ( from M3 Lee production) , Sherman  bolted , cast rounded nose , cast sharp nose  . Certain factories used certain types all through their production runs , some factories used 2 or 3 types . One factory still 3 piece bolted  if IRC in  late 44 . The problem is they were all interchangeable . Just like the VSS wheel sets , you could use them to repair any damaged tank ,

I get the feeling the crew wouldn't end up in a "Fury vs Tiger " like firefight , more the long distance sniper kind of thing . Lots of time for the loader to man handle those large rounds . This thing wouldn't be a 6 rounds a minute kind of gun at all . maybe 1 a minute , what do you think ?

I'm thinking the BA Flak 88 is a re scaled 1/48 Italeri , it didn't come with a crew . Funny enough , Italeri (or maybe it was Tamiya ) re boxed it awhile go with a bunch of Tamiya 1/48 German figures and ammo boxes , but they aren't the 3 round wicker boxes usually found with the 88  because Tamiya dosn't make them , and the crew were just various Tamiya  Afrcka Korp figures not actual gun crew figures .Epic fail IMO
